Default What does NARROWED rear end mean?

Still new to rear ends, because haven't had to get one yet. But I keep seeing "narrowed rear ends". What is the deal with these? Do the normal 9" and 12 bolt stick out more than stock or what. Sorry for the newb-like question but i'm curious for when I have to buy one.

search finally worked, it's for running a deeper wheel. So it would be pointless if the car sees the track rarely and i'm not looking to keep dropping my times, right? It's onlt a couple hundred bucks to do it, but you have to get different control arms.

It's when the axle tubes have been shortened. Of course the axles will be shorter as well. This will allow a serious car to fit some major tire under the rear. This mod would most likely be combined with tubbing as well, which is modifying the wheel wells to accomadate wider tires.

When ordering a new Moser rear for these cars, the rear can be ordered narrower for no extra charge. Bob

I had mine narrowed so I could get a wider selection of wheels, I wanted 15x10s but about hte only wheel out there that would fit are bogarts, I didnt want to spend that much so I had moser narrow mine 4 inches over all, that let me put 15x10s with 5 inch back spacing on there.

Sweet rear

Did you buy your rear housing with the sway bar mounts already welded?

Stock springs in your car? Did you have any problems rubbing on the inside?

I'm just wondering how much higher a 9" makes the rear of the car. Every body says thats the big downfall. I run coil overs, and still want my car to sit where it's at now, approx.
