i have 3.73s too, i get a "howl" i guess you could call it when im out of the throttle and its slowing down, i aways figured it was gear whine, i dont get a vibration though.. best of luck to ya figuring this out

Did you properly break the gear in? Following the manufactures break in instructions are crutial with gears. If you install the gear and go beat the hell out off the car right off the lift your gonna get a howling noise and mabey vibrations. But if installed properly and following the break in period guide lines then all should be well unless its a cheap gear. Best of luck!

I see allot of people posting with their imediate issues as soon as they install their new gears but I can't help but wonder if they broke it in right. Beat'n the hell out of your new gears as soon as you throw em on is what usually causes the funky vibration and howl. Mainly the vibration. Those first 100 miles are crucial! If you installed em recently and then imediatly romped on the throttle,....then YOUR the reason why your having issues.

I broke my gears in good 500 miles before I got on it, I did just like they recomend drive so far then let them cool off for 1/2 hour dive alittle more then let them cool off, my backlash was set on .008 and i still got a frig howl it drove me crazy I put up with it for 20,000 miles and I just put back my freeway flyers 2.73 and I love them, great low rpms on the highway better gas mileage it does feel alittle slow with the same gas I gave with my 3.42 but its quite in the cab and i don't have to turn the radio up to drown the howl out plus the engine is turning more rpm and you have even more cabin noise...
