Borg Warner Transmission? help

Borg Warner Transmission? help I bought a 98 TA with a Borg Warner Tremec (fixed typos - JR), not sure on the spelling but thats whats in it i need to know where you can get them from and if they are good or what? if someone would steer me in the right direction that would be sweet. from what i hear this transmission is worth $3800.

You can buy an entire wrecked LS1 car for around $3800 - $4000. I would say the used Tranny w/ clutch, flywheel, pressure plate and hydraluics might go for $2000 or slightly more maybe $2500. Also remember that someone needs an LS1 to put it behind unlike the 93-97 6-speeds that would mate behind an LT1 or pretty much any chevy 305 or 350 motor. I can find one of those for $1200 with all parts needed to do the swap.

Re: Borg Warner Transmission? help well i'm not talkin about how much a t-56 Transmission is... i'm sayin when i bought this Trans Am it came with a diffrent Transmission in it supposibly the transmission place told me new it is worth $3800.. this aftermarket Transmission is a Borgworner- Treemec. have you guys every hear about this brand or make? if so how much you think it is work new and used.? is it a good transmition, from what the workers were tellin me its a good racing transmission, but i have know clue?

Re: Borg Warner Transmission? help Your car came with a T-56 6 speed transmission right from the factory. A few years ago Borg-Warner and TTC(Tremec) were 2 different companies. Borg-Warner built mostly stock production transmissions, and TTC(Tremec) was an aftermarket company known for their heavy duty transmissions.(Alot of Mustang guys swapped in a "Tremec" 5-speed in place of their stock "Borg-Warner" T-5) But TTC(Tremec) bought Borg-Warner and now all Borg-Warner transmissions wear the "Tremec" name. Your transmission guy may not be aware of this, and when he saw "Tremec" on your transmission case, he mis-took it for an aftermarket transmission.

Re: Borg Warner Transmission? help yes, you have the same T-56 everyone else does. These go for about 1k used. I just bought one with the bell-housing, and complete clutch assembly with the tranny for 850.
