We done them, not bad especially if you've ever driven a non overdrive old school car with 4.10's. Bob

I know some-one who did this, was perfect for him. He only drove to college and work. He mostly took his car to the track, but since its a full track car now, and soon to be running a 4.4x

If your mods will be limited to converter, heads and cam then I would say it would be perfect for the quarter mile. If you wanna spray the car ontop of the h/c then go with 3.73's. The 4.10's will limit you to about 120 or so in the quarter in 3rd. The 3.73's will let you go to 130 or so in 3rd. These estimates are also based on your shift point and your rev limiter.

Check out the gear calculator in the sticky in the gear forum, it's very helpful. But be sure to subtract 300 rpm or so because at WOT your converter won't be locked. Hope this helps.

410s in an A4 are sick, i mean give up comfortable highway driving but they certainly make the car feel very responsive cruising at 85 around 3300rpm in OD in my LT1 WS6, out of the hole is nasty, normal driving is awesome but just not the long term highway driving. Its just alot of wear and tear on the motor to keep it spinning at 3grand plus for 20 minutes at a time, i mean i imagine i could run to about 155 just now ill be at redline.....

I ran 4.10's and a 4000 stall in my A4 with my 408. It is violent, highway driving was fine.

My s-10 came stock with 4:10's and it's a blast to drive especially after I pulled the four cylinder and stuck in a w code 4.3. Now that the 6.0 is fixin to go in it really out to be a blast. In my s-10 with 26.1 tires at 70 it's spinning 2750 with the 4:10's and the converter locked.

I have 4.10s in my 97 and they are really cool off highway. On the highway they are not all that bad I drove it 75 miles each way on my honeymoon last year and it wasnt terrible. The biggest problem I have with them is that I still have the stock drive shaft and the gears moved the vibration much lower in the mph range. I get to 70 and the car shakes and vibrates terrible. I think if it wasnt for that I wouldnt mind them at all. I have a bunch of older pos chevy's with no overdrive and you turn some good rpms in some of them on the highway and they dont seem bad at all.

I will however be going a bit lower with my gears in the 9" I will be putting in it. Only for fear that down the road as my power increases I will be to the point where it shifts into 4th in the 1/4 mile and I do not want to do that. Not only will it kill the times but it will likely kill the tranny to go a 4th gear shift at wot from what I hear. I think I might put some 3.90s in it this time around. a good middle ground between the 4.10 and 3.73

Im surprised to see all the 4.10 auto chiming in, usually you will hear 3.73s are the most you wanna do unless its doesnt see highway or is a track car

I guess your car is better than my wife's...The run was done with 20-25 psi in all 4 tires (we never checked as running it was a last minute deal at a rental we had) full weight with the spare, etc...and probably 50-100 lbs of her junk in there, too...I thought it did pretty well...and it was the first and only time we raced it...Probably would've gotten better with more seat time...Will be in the 12s with my Bogarts under it...But, she'll probably won't let me touch it...
