Default RAM 310 organic disk OR 6130 metallic???

What is the difference between the 310 organic ($150@summit) and the 6130 metallic ($180@summit)? I remember months back, people were getting the 300 series, but now lately all I see is 6130s. What is the difference? Drivability? Longevity?

I will be using the stock everything with the exeption of the RAM 402pp if that makes any difference.

Any info appreciated! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

Bolt on HP <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" /> Nothing crazy

I just need somthing that will hold good, can take abuse, and is fairly streetable. If I decide to break the sound barrier than just an upgrade to a dump truck clutch might be in the works. But for now, bolt on HP. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

If you are around 400 hp or below, the 300 series is a good choice because it will be very smooth engaging. If you anticipate more mods, consider the 900 series. One more if, if using the stock flywheel (not recommended) and go to 900 series use the 980 which is 900/300 series combo - won't eat into the flywheel.

Adjustable master highly recommended also. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

I can tell you i wouldnt recomend the 6130. I wore mine out in 3000 miles and about 40 passes at the track. I am switching over to a 910 disk hopefully i have better results with it. I am running heads and cam though. If your going to run slicks I would just get one of the 900 series disks though. RAM has great customer service if you do have problems they will do everything to help you out.

BlkWS6 are you sure the clutch was installed correctly? Do you have an adjustable master? I have about 1000 miles on mine and beat the hell out of it on the street without any problems. Talk to Mikey at rapid motorports. I have 414RWHP ARE stage 2 H/C/I. I have only gotten 2 passes on my ET Streets but did get a 1.6 60ft with a crap track and NO track prep but blow the dirt off.

I installed it myself so i know it was done corretly. Mikey is actually the person i purchased it through. When I talked to him it seemed as if others have worn them at this quickly also. He gave me a great deal on a new 910 disk which i really appreciate. I was cutting 1.70s up here with the mickey thompsons also. All the passes i drop the clutch at 6k rpm and i dont slip it. I do have the adjustable master too. Maybe im just harder on clutchs than most people.

I don't recommend the 6130 disk either due to problems melting to the flywheel. Either 310 or 910/980 disks are best, depending on your mods.

I don't know my 6130/402 is holdin up fine. I have about 1500 miles on it so far, and everytime I leave my house I put it through its paces. I will be upgrading my 414RWHP H/C, through a 12 bolt and 4.10s with 315s, to a 382 all bore with TnT F1 nitrous kit and I will be switching to a 910 disk

See this is what really pissed me off with the RAM setups. At first everybody praised the 6130 disc and everybody recommended it. Posts like 14u2nv were all over the place saying it was great. Then people started putting miles on them and running them. Problems and more problems followed. First it was blammed on nitrous only cars then flywheels and so on. Now the sponsers and even RAM dont recommend the 6130 so people like me are stuck with a time bomb. No offense 14u2nv but 1000 miles is nothing, I dont feel pulling the trans and getting a new disc after 3000 miles.
I had my own problems with the Ram setup and will be ripping it out next spring as I have already spent too much money to get the setup to function properly. I have no confidence in this setup.

Ok I am just saying that I haven't had any problems at all, and the 1000 milesI have or whatever is a REALLY ROUGH 1000 miles! A clutch is a wear item, the more you abuse it the more it wears and so forth... You always hear about the bad news. I have read about maybe 10 posts total about bad RAM set-ups. I know for a fact there are a lot more people out there with the RAM clutches. So that brings two thoughts to mind: one, most people haven't had any problems and like the clutch or two, everyone is so mad they won't even post about it! I don't think the later is true. If I have a serious problem, you can bet everyone will know about it. I don't think its fair to say RAM isn't a quality product. Look at Mcleoud and how many people got screwed by them! When they released their first clutch for the LS1, everyone was saying how great it was and it was God like.... Then they got some serious abuse and mileage and crapped out. Then came along Centerforce- I haven't heard one good thing about that clutch yet. Then you have CARTEK. I hear mixed reviews about this one all the time. Many are happy as can be, and many are not. I have heard about the clutch slipping like crazy to completely blowing up. Then of course we have the SPEC/STAR. When that came out, EVERYONE was saying this is the CLUTCH! I bought into it. All you guys got on here praising it like it was GOD. I went and bought one(stage 3 carbon, cost me $550 for the clutch, $100 for a new OEM master and $75 for a new slave: oh yeah and at the time we"could use the factory hydraulics, they didn't need replacing")So $700+ in the hole, not including labor to install it $300.00; the clutch blew up on me with 700 miles on it. I was never to the drag strip with it. I put 500-600 miles on my clutch prior to abuse. It just got done being broken in by my standards, and the disk blew apart and broke 3 fingers off the pressure plate. this was the the street with Goodyear Eagle F1s with 30% tread left! All in all I think the best clutches out there right now are the RAM units, Cartek, and Mcleouds new Rev lock II(from what I have heard- haven't seen anything bad about the new Mcleoud yet)

I think I have the record for most miles on the 6130/402 combo! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> I've got 32k miles on it, along with the stock, re-surfaced flywheel. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="gr_eek2.gif" /> Along with the stuff I have in my sig, this clutch has held up great for me. Although it's a lil chattery if you try to slip it at a stoplight, it's still not bad. It's been getting worse here lately though, and I'm thinking about switching to the 310 myself, just due to the fact that I know I'm gonna be a bolt-on only car for a while, and I'm looking for something a lil less aggressive for everyday driving. I can't believe I've had this clutch this long. As a matter of fact, I believe I was like the 3rd or 4th person to ever have it! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> First it was Java, he was the prototype guy, then Harlan, and then either me or another guy, I can't remember. Oh well, it's been good to me, and it still holds just as strong as the day we put it in! Put it this way, it can still chirp 4th with nothing more than the mods in the sig! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

Unbelievable: if you get 4.10 gears that will eliminate all chatter. I have 12 bolt and 4.10s and I have 0 chatter, even when slipping it.

Can you elaborate?

I always thought "chatter" came from some type of imbalance in the clutch/flywheel.

Most people's definition of chatter is the jerky feeling of the clutch engaging. When you have lower gears(higher numerically) the car begins its intial movement easier. Why i am not really sure. Maybe someone else can give an in depth explanation for us. I just know it doesn't chatter as much when you have gears.

Its just the better gear ratio allows you to get the clutch engaged quicker with minimal chatter, in combo with the aggressive low gear.
