#5
Never snapped my Strange Axles - but I have busted 3 sets of gears though; stock, Motive, and whatever DTS put in my latest 10 bolt...

the poll is deceiving. a lot of people choose motive gears so naturally, it's going to be the highest in the poll. that doesn't mean they're the weakest; it means they're the most popular.

I would like to see how many are stick cars and how many people installed there gears. If they were proffesionally installed did you tell the installer? We set backlash tolerances tighter for hard driving at the track and stick cars. The backlash is the slap of the gears and or mesh tightness. Plus set the gears in a slightly more competition pattern set-up . Hope you all have better luck out there. Jim

rediff builds
I have my own company in akron ohio area.
J D Race and Restoration. I did not want to over advert...seems some forums have rules or just plain do not like people pushing there products on the forums. So trying to stay low key, but still answer some questions when I have some time. Try to get a pulse on what the guys are needing out there.
We specialize in GM muscle cars rears. I have a website I am trying to get moving for information on GM rear diffs and any rear diff questions anyone might have. It has classified section too. I am slowly building the info as my nephew is building it and have to work around a college schedule ...lol. Education first I told him . If he gets time we work on it.

I do not claim to know everything and will not give a BS answer or a guess. If I do not know I will say it, But will try my best to get that answer too. I have learned from many different racers and spent many hours wrenching and disassembling all kinds of GM diffs. I started the business from nothing and narrow custom rears if needed. I have alot of hands on infomation so if you need help try me I am always willing to help out. Jim Mitschke
Any interest in the MOSER 12 bolt rears? I see everyone is going 9" That is a shame... I have to stick with GM . I can try to work out a better price and build using these housings (12 bolt moser) if any of you are interested. They will still be expensive but should be able to get them lower that 2000.00 GEEZ...

It doesn't really matter what brand you get. IMO 4.10s in a 10-bolt isn't even smart if you do anything at all besides fairly easy street driving because they break easy enough to start with.

Hey monzaz, like how much tighter do you set youre backlash? and does it cause any gear noise? or premature gear wear?
