The third strange HD still in car 2 black stripes everytime not broken yet.

If I had to do it again, S60 with a powerlock.

Did you know the moser is not a bolt in, we put one in a friends car and had to change driveshaft and swaybar mounts and adapt the abs (3 channel) and lets not forget the 4 self loosening torque arm mounting bolts.

The strange 12 is a direct bolt in using all the factory parts you just have to butcher the ABS harness like the moser 12, only problem is its still a 12 bolt.

The S60 is a direct bolt in (except driveshaft but they ship it with one) and the ABS is plug and play. The ring gear is larger and the available powerlock is a 4 spidergear beast of a posi that is rebuildable.

All this info only cost me 1 12 bolt, 3 gearsets, and 3 posi units

John

What car do you have this in?

Just blew up my **** and looking for answers.

Eaton now makes the trutrac and the cases are forged, unlike the original detroit ones.
This should help with the reliability.

My tru-crap has 3 sets of worm gears that were all grinding into the case.
But I guess I shouldn't complain since it did last 2000 street miles and 1 track day before it cracked.

i gotta true trac in my 12bolt w/ 4.11s and its a POS.

everytime i touch the throttle CLUNK!!!! everytime i let off the throttle CLUNK!!!!! cruisin @ 70mph in 6th gear tapping the throttle on and off all you hear is CLUNK CLUNK CLUNK. it sounds like my driveshaft is cracking like a whip and wants to break off

you can turn the driveshaft 45 degrees back and forth with the car parked on the ground. all set up specs are fine (backlash, runout, wear, ect) but the diff actually has about 45 degrees of play/slop between forward and backward(accel and decel)

my 10 bolt you could barely turn the driveshaft 5 degrees back and forth, it was nice and tight. this f*$king POS true track is sloppy and loose and annoying, does anyone know what this is and why.....or any input

oh yea f@#k moser and eaton for blowing me off all the times i called, sayin thats how it is and theres nothing wrong

Mine is fine. My guess is there might be some noices for some who dont understand.

THe OEM posi has clutches and engaged smoother because of it. This uses gears. There will be some clunking. I have the same amount of "play" as before.

If it was tight with no play at all what would happen once the gears heat up?

The true-trac is designed to be dead silent with no audible clunking or any other noise like a locker. I have one and the thing is dead silent like it should be. Yes the lockers go clunk, clunk clunk. Apples and oranges here.

You guys might want to check the following before blaming the truetrac if you have not already:
Check the axle rotational slop where it slides in to the truetrac.
Check R&P backlash
Check U-joints
Check your tranny mount
Check pinion yoke

If the trutrac were making these clunking noises I would have to imagine it would be on the edge of grenading at any time. Something does not add up here.

If you look at a trucrap there is some rotational lash as the 3 gears on each side act (grind into, I still have my truecrap in a box can post photos) on the posi case.

There is backlash and depending on your driveline (type of lower arms bushing torque arm) you might or might not feel it.

I can't believe people are still buying these things, I did believing the hype but that was 3 years ago.

I now have a good old fasioned rebuildable strange HD and no issues. The only thing I regret is eaton still makes the case for strange HD and after my experience with eaton and their customer service I don't want to give them another penny.

I've have a S60 with a trutrack for about 4000 miles now with now issues and it's quiet as can be. the only clunking I had was the from the driveline slack I had before I got the pinion angle dialed in just right. No cluncking, no whining and it hooks up everytime.
