what is truetrac?
It uses worm gears instead of clutches or cones

* Smooth operation
* Performs open until needed
* Fully automatic limited slip
The Detroit Truetrac was the first helical gear differential ever introduced into the automotive aftermarket as an Eaton brand. It remains the leading helical gear-type limited slip differential in the industry. Detroit Truetrac's proven helical gear design eliminates the need for wearable parts, resulting in maintenance free traction. Recognized not only for its toughness but also it’s smooth and quiet operation.
Engineered to work efficiently in front and rear axles, semi-floating (C-clip axles) and transfer cases. Power transfer is so smooth, it literally goes unnoticed by the driver - even in front wheel drive axles.
Proven design, low cost and effective performance, all make the Detroit Truetrac limited slip differential the ideal choice for a wide variety of vehicle applications. No maintenance - Just Traction!
I am on the 2nd one in my Moser 12 bolt. The 1st was set up by Moser. The 2nd set up by Eastside Perf. (a sponsor) Seems to be working fine, the 1st one was made by the original company, not Eaton. Niether Moser or Eaton will stand behind their product, but will praise how good it is.
If you go tru trac you will have the axles cut for that specific diff, if you wish to chng, you need new axles....

I agree< I broke mine also pics are still posted.
They do not stand behind product and as for the no wearable parts BS when I took mine apart the worm gears were screwing themselves into the housing. Disposable junk.
before you buy anything get whatever anyone tell's you in writing so they don't forget their lies.

NO
I have 3 12 bolt posi, with the last one a strange us gear HD unit (eaton case US gear guts) still in car.
The first a torqueline was one wheel peel but didnt break.
The second detroit tru-crap cracked and on dissasembly worm gears were grinding into case, so just about ready to explode.
The third strange HD still in car 2 black stripes everytime not broken yet.
If I had to do it again, S60 with a powerlock.
Did you know the moser is not a bolt in, we put one in a friends car and had to change driveshaft and swaybar mounts and adapt the abs (3 channel) and lets not forget the 4 self loosening torque arm mounting bolts.
The strange 12 is a direct bolt in using all the factory parts you just have to butcher the ABS harness like the moser 12, only problem is its still a 12 bolt.
The S60 is a direct bolt in (except driveshaft but they ship it with one) and the ABS is plug and play. The ring gear is larger and the available powerlock is a 4 spidergear beast of a posi that is rebuildable.
All this info only cost me 1 12 bolt, 3 gearsets, and 3 posi units

You can get the dana at DLS, not sure if Bob sells them at Exotic Performance but both are good guys. I'd talk to Bob at EPP and or DLS before making a decision. The Dana has had its issues and drawbacks as well.
