Default Aftermarket Diff cover??

So i am doing a rear end swap into my A4 Z28 from a M6 car. While I am at I want to upgrade the diff cover to a stronger one that will help give a little strength to the rear end. What is a good one that is not too terribly expensive and where can I get it? Thanks in advance.

Trick Flow, T/A, Summit, just make sure it has the support studs in the center to preload the bearing caps. Summit Racing has them for around $150. I don't know if they will really make a 10 bolt any stronger, but they couldn't make it any weaker!

I love my T/A cover and if purchased through Herron Performance ... they are ussually 140 ish unless purchased with a GP in which case ... cheaper --- He always offers free shipping and is still cheapest in town ... Youll never hear a cross word from anyone about him --- not to mention he has one fast F-body !!

I wouldn't waste the money. Set that aside for a 9in or 12 bolt. Your 10 bolt will live for a LONG time in that a4.

Yeah I have heard that they actually live for quite a while in an A4 cars but I figured while I am doing the swap and will have the cover off anyway to pull the axles I might as well put a new girdle cover on while I am at it? You don't think it would be worth it at all?

What HP/TQ level do you plan to stop at? My previous A4 ran LOW 11s with an un-touched stock rear. Maybe if you were not gonna push it too awful hard, it would help enough to keep it together. But if you ever plan to make some decent power, the money could be better spent towards a rear that could take the abuse.

I would eventually like to see some 10's in the car but my goal for the next year is a 11.5 car on spray that can be daily driven. Based on what you have said I guess I for sure wouldn't need a girdled cover so I will just keep my eyes open for a good deal and if I find one then I will pick it up. Thanks

The biggest advantage of an aftermarket cover is that you can drain the gear oil without the hassle of resealing the stock steel cover. More frequent gear oil changes could possibly help the 10 bolt live longer (and stay quieter), especially in an A4 application.
Contrary to some of the opinions on here, gear oil is NOT a 'permanent fill' fluid, and it most definitely does shear down with use, time and heat, especially in a performance, high power/shock loaded situation.

I have an LPW and like it as it stiffens up the rear and makes draining the fluid easier.

while you have the rear apart...i would at least replace the bearing cap bolts with studs...

inexpensive insurance.

my 10bolt is holding up to some hard shifts with 400rwhp....a stage 4 clutch...and 315 DRs.

i think the girdle is helping some....
