12 bolt or 9 inch???? well i just **** my 5th 10 bolt so i am ready to move on to bigger and better things. at first i was leaning towards a strange 12 bolt with a tru trac, 33 spline, girddle and the heavy duty yoke with 4.30's. my car is prob around the 425 rwhp range with a m6 and i don't plan on spraying or anything bigger motor wise. but i heard 12 bolts tend to whine when u have a 6 speed because the TA stresses the houseing to much????? just what i hear. i know i prob wont break a 12 bolt for a long time but i just don't want to spend over 2k for a rearend that hauls very loud. i also heard with the 9 inch you don't get as much noise. can anybody back this up????

Search all the posts about 9" vs 12bolt... and you will find every excuse under the sun not to run one or the other.
It comes down to what components you buy and, more importantly... who assembles it... (read: not Moser and not Strange)

It came down to this for me. Put a ford design rear in my chevy and have peace of mind. Put a 12 bolt in out of brand loyalty, worry that I'm gonna tear it up. You're going to spend $2,XXXish dollars, you'd feel better with the peace of mind, I know I did. 9" 35 spline w/locker 3:70 gears.

For the horsepower your running I would say a 12 bolt 33 spline setup would be more that adequate. Also, keeps the Chevy authenticity of the car. Whether you run a 12 bolt or a 9" gear you have the chance for gear noise in that ratio. As long as the gears are setup right the noise should be at a minimum if any at all.
