Default 9 inch powdercoating/painting

So I just got my 9 inch, and I opted not to have it powdercoated, one because I ran out of funds and because I figured I could do it myself. Has anyone ever done this? If so any tips/advice would be cool. I posted this in the paint section, no redponses so I figured to try here. Tried a search, but seems to not be working for me. Thanks for any help.

I'd just spray it with some black Krylon, maybe POR 15 if you have it.

I just prep-cleaned mine really well, and a few coats of primer and chassis black, it looks good.

Preped and then painted with Rustoleum primer and then Rustoleum satin black. Came out really nice but I only drive my car in the summer on nice days. (Won't see too much road grime)

por15 will hold up the best. If you brush it on out in the sunlight, it will flow out and look like you sprayed it on. Bob

POR15 is far superior but takes a lot of prep and a little pricey. For me rattlecan rustoleum (much better than the factory nothing paint job) will be just fine.

I've never had good luck with any rattle can. Roughed the surface up, cleaned with proper stuff, tack'd the parts and it still can peel if you scrape it with your finger nail. I've moving to using automotive 2 part paints to paint stuff from here on out.
