Default Are Superior gears = to OEM GM gears?

I'm just looking around trying to locate OEM GM 4.10's. And I getting confused!
I'm seeing Motive/GM. Superior original GMs? Not sure what I am looking at...

If I want to buy OEM 4.10s what should I look for?

I’ve heard many people claim that the Superiors are the better of the two brands. To add to the confusion, apparently Motive sells both gears made in Italy and gears made in the U.S. Reports are that the U.S. Motives are better than the Italian. I can’t speak from personal experience since I have never used any of them.

I do know that Superiors are manufactured by “Superior Axel & Gear” which is a division of “Foote Axle & Forge LLC.” They have a web site at www.footeaxle.com.

Motives are made by “Motive Gear” which is a Division of “Midwest Truck and Auto Parts.” Web site: www.motivegears.com

I also am not clear how both manufacturers can claim to be selling original GM gears. Very confusing. I hope someone here can explain.

The Italian motives are actually 4.11's 37 teeth on the ring gear and 9 on the pinion I have them and they are fine.

I am cloudy on this as well. I purchased 5 Motive 4.10s, assuming they were OEMs. I could not get them to run without being torn up within a week, and they were installed properly. I switched to Richmonds, and have had no problems or whine in over 2 years.

I'm sure that GM sources their products from more than one source. Both of these companies could supply GM with the gears and would therefore be making "original GM gears."

I'm a little confused...I'm not running Richmonds. I've got the factory dog-leg 3.42.

When I went to buy 4.10s last Friday, they told me that GM-OEM only made up to 3.42? or 3.73. Dealerships switch to Richmond brand for 4.10s.
Also, their underdrive pulleys are JET brand FYI
