With 3.23s what RPMs do you turn at 70mph?
I have 02 A4 ws6 that i bought with 16k miles on it. it has the GU5 Code (3.23) but i turn just a little over 2000rpms at 70. Comparing it to several of my friends cars (also A4 4th gen F-bodies) i turn more rpms than them.
so i was curious and jacked the car up and turned had to turn the driveshaft just a little under 3 1/2 turns to get the tires to make one exact revolution. wich to me seems like they would be 3.42 gears. i could be making a mistake somewhere or someone could have swaped the gears out in the car, but i would doubt it being such a low milage car with an older couple being the original owners. or is it possible that the factory could have made a mistake? my speedometer is correct though, so the computer would have to have been corrected for the gear change.

Not if its a stock WS6.. I had 2:73's and I was right around 2k at 70..It would be more around 2200-2250k with 3:42's I think.. I'm pulling around 2450 with 3:73's. I can't see someone throwing 3:42's in the car with 16k,they would have advertised it I'm sure.

I have had ride's with both 3.23's and 3.42's. I know how fast im going at 2k...... With the 3.23's its 67mph for me...... witht the 42's it is 62 mph at 2k. So if your barley over 2k at 70...... its probobly the 3.23's..... But why dont u see how fast your going at 2k rpm instead of 70mph and figure it out that way.............
And no one is going to change from 23's to 42's unless they're not hot rod savvy would be a nice way to say it.......

well, thanks for the opinions. this answered my question, basicly what im noticing is that with 3.23s everyone is turning 2k from 67-70. so there are some slight variables, that play in.
so it sounds like i have 3.23s. Thanks.
