And yeah it would be a big diff, but any swap would require shift point editing, and the best to do that is LS1 edit. I use HPP3, I could program upshifts at WOT but not downshifts.
Should I go with Lingenfelter 3.5' balanced alum OR carbon fiber?
difference in price is $300 VS $700+.
It's definately a steel one. I can take pics of it if you prefer. I yanked it shortly after I got the car and replaced it with a Lingenfelter 3.5" Aluminum one. I was told ALL 2.73 geared cars regardless of tires got the steel shaft.
