Default Motive gear question need help ASAP!

Hey guys just bought some 4.10's today and when I opened up the box I noticed theres nothing as far as an instruction sheet for the break in process or how to set the gears up to spec. I am getting them put in on monday and just want to know if there is certain specs that they need or if the mechanic just eyeballs it or what. I thought there were certain specs for backlash and all that. Any confirmation of instructions to be in the box would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Probably no set "instructions.".. I'm not sure, but there's probably a universal or GM spec and the rear end shop should know them or be able to set them up correctly..

As far as break in, a lot of people say there is no need to, etc. etc. etc.. I've also heard that you should heat cycle them... Such as driving them around for 30 minutes or so and then letting them completely cool and then doing it again.. Just normal driving for a couple hundred miles before you go out and beat the **** out of them..

As for which is correct, I'm not sure... All I know is that if I paid for new gears and wanted to take care of them, I probably wouldn't go out and thrash on them right out of the gate..

Hey thanks for that info, I also heard various things on break in. Any chance you know if that Motives do come with instructions?

And anyone ever use Lock tite on the ring gear bolts? My buddy through one through his diff cover and I was just wondering if this is ok to use on them.

I currently have the Motives in my 10 bolt, and they DID come with instructions for recommended back lash setting, and some torque specs.

Yes, I did use medium strength loc-tite when I did my gears back in 06.

Gears should DEFINATELY be heat cycled to break them in. No two ways about it.

I'll look at my sheet tomorrow and post up the info for you. It's in my tool box in the shop and I'm too lazy to walk down there and get it
