Default Driveshaft Problem?

My Tailhousing bushing worked its way out of my new used tailshaft i bought from a trany shop. I took it back for them to fix and they are trying to say my driveshaft is an incyh short. I don't understand how it would be short it is all stock drivetrain and plain jane steel driveshaft. If anyone has measurements that they reply with for an A4 driveshaft for the 10 bolt and 4l60e. They are also trying to get me to have them balance it again. I have never felt any vibrations except for when the housing stated leaking because the bushing f...ed up. Wut do u think?

Thanks

If everthing is stock, I think you answered your own question. It can't be too short.

WOW why you gotta be a smarta$$... Just saying, it sounds like to me the shop is jerking you around. By the way my stock DS is just a tad shorter than 42.5" That is from end to end not including yoke.

thank you for your numbers!! yes sir...stock slip yoke.....its the stock shaft and I too was thinking they were jerking me around.....however, on my driveshaft when its all bolted in, where it slides onto the trany there is about an inch or so of shinny, non oxidixed steel from my stock shaft. Could the rear have worked itself back a hair? Is yours like that? I only have bolt ons. It does look like it should slide in a little more.

Thanks Again,

Brian

Your LCAs should prevent the rear from moving forward or back. Do you have adjustable LCAs? When you say 1 inch shinny steel, are you talking about the slip yoke. Here is a link with a pic of my stock slip yoke, compare this to yours.

44.5" from the center of the rear u-joint to the seal on the transmission. I also have pulled out a tail shaft bushing in my racecar, found out that the new one installed by my builder was too tight and running out of lube. I had to unbolt my tail shaft housing and chuck it up in a lathe to open up the diameter of the bushing a few thousands. The bushings are not a solid piece of brass, they slip fit into the housing and kinda pinch itself.

I don't have adjustable LCA's. Compared to your slip yoke on the left from top to bottom the slip yoke in my car goes in only about half the length of the cylindrical slip yoke.
