First thing I'm gonna do when I get my 2010 SS.....
change read end, transmission, and engine oils to royal purple
check these out
http://www.royalpurple.com/rp-videos.html
in a ls1 camaro test Horsepower TV picked up 9 RWHP just by changing fluids
Trucks TV did a temperature test on a truck and by changing to royal purple they got a 10 degree drop in transmission and 10 degree drop in the rear end as well
here is a cool anti-wear vid where they compare mobil 1 fully synthetic 5w30 to royal purple 5w30 fully sythentic
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EC2sn...rom=PL&index=3
i always used mobil 1 fully sythentic 5w30 in every vehicle ive owned and recently in the suv i bought my wife a new mazda cx-7 i changed the oil from mobil 1 5w30 fully sythentic to royal purple 5w30 fully sythentic and i noticed the vehicle starts quicker then it did in the past..... this is a newer car it just turned 18,000 miles on it and has never had slow starting just like a normal newer car would start but now its starts almost instantly as soon as i turn the key the engine is on, i dont have to wait the 1 second it usually takes
im thinking since it reduces friction so much that its easier to start and takes less power to turn the engine resulting in better mpg and more power
anyone else have royal purple stories???

My buddy uses RP 5W-30 in his boat. It's powered by a SBC. We tore the engine down a while back and everything looked amazing. No signs of any wear. Keep in mind this engine is constantly held above 5,000 rpms for very long periods of time.

I use Royal Purple in my SS and Equinox I just try and use the best synthetics out there. You know the old saying goes, take care of your vehicle and itll take care of you. As far as MPGs go, I havent seen an increase or decrease in that all. Cant really tell performance wise either, I mean if it gets 9Rwhp by adding RP, your not going to feel it.

but i would not change to royal purple until maybe three or four oil changes......break your motor in first...this fluid is thinner and may cause leaks to come out in the most awkard places.

I used RP 15W40 in my Duramax. I have since gone to Mobil 1 5w40 Turbo Diesel Truck since it's about 10-12 bucks cheaper per gallon (the truck takes 2.5 gallons). I never had any issues with RP, seemed to work great under some stressful conditions.
I just took issue when the retailers upped it from $28 to $35 or more a gallon! If the price were within a few dollars, I'd go back to RP. Hell, the oil even smells good!

The only thing about RP in a DD is that you got to be careful not to put to many miles on it. It doesnt have the same amount of detergents that most oils do so itll "breakdown" (I hate using that word because it doesnt breakdown but it gets contaminated with water, fuel, carbon and dirt).
However, if you can afford RP is a great oil to use in everything.

Not that I disagree with running Amsoil, but telling us to do "factual research" on LS1.crap is hysterical.
Maybe try www.bobistheoilguy.com if you're looking for real info. LS1.chat...now that's funny!
