Yes there is dealer hold back. On a 2SS with a MSRP of $37450 the invoice is $36306 that is a $1144 window of profit for the dealer. The hold back on this car is $1098. Hold back is not profit. GM gives that money to the dealer to help him pay is floor plan. The floor plan is the monthly payment of all those cars sitting on the dealers lot. Dealers do not own there inventory outright they make monthly payments just like everyone else does. The monthly note on 250+ new vehicles is substantial to say the least. If you have not noticed lately there are many dealers that have their lights turned off permemently. Many dealers are just barley getting by these days. The ones that do not have deep pockets are the ones that do not have the lights on anymore. Most dealership now days are just glorified used car lots. Used car sales are much larger than new cars sales at this time. They selling 8- 10 used cars for every new car purchase. Like I said GM is making the money on the Camaro not the dealers. It is the same on the Malibu, Cobalt, Impala and Aveo. The only vehicles with large mark ups are expensive trucks, SUV's, and the Corvette.

PS There is nothing wrong with a business making some profit. Profit makes the world go around. I bet you do not work for free and neither should a automobile dealer.

I see everyone is providing the cost of the vehicle but not including financing charges. Meaning the price you all are providing is what you would pay if you paid cash or had 0% financing like GM does every now and than. I doubt many if any paid cash and I don't believe GM has offered 0% on the Camaro yet. Finance charges can easily add up to thousands and thousands for some.
Dealers have many ways to play with the numbers to make you feel like your getting a deal. Lower the price of the car but give you less for your trade-in. Making money in the Finance Dept with overpriced add-on options and extended Warranties and even off of loans that you may have been able to get at lower rates elsewhere.
Its good to see Camaro prices have come down to reality, I just wonder if they will ever get its price lower. I have seen a few times where GM said they should be able to get a few thousand and more in savings per vehicle from the restructuring and bankrupcy--I wonder when and if they would lower the prices accordingly, after all, we bailed them out.

Was that out the door? Well either way that is a good deal.
That car is basically new. Good for you man.
Did you get a decent loan rate even though it was used?

Are you a must have leather person? if not you could have maybe found a used 1SS for even cheaper. You would be surprised at how nice the interior is in my car.

I was out the door @ $35,880....so yeah, I think it was a GREAT deal!

I got 3.9 % rate on the loan, which was pretty good as well...I did look at the 1SS, but I like all the electronic gizmos so I opted for a 2SS.

from your numbers you state the dealer is working for free! the lights cant stay on and make a profit at those margins, and there is even less profit in the used car deals , i guess you are right thats why many dealers have closed

Anybody think Ill be able to get a '10 new/barely used in like 2 years when I get to the point in life where I can afford for a much better deal? Even if they make new ones?

-I just feel like what the 2010 has I am perfectly ok with if I can get it cheaper than like a 2012 with a few rinky dink changes

another thing to think about some dealers espically larger ones have up to two percent advertising on top of the invoice, which could add up to 5 or 600 bucks, lots of your smaller dealers only have one percent or some have zero percent advertising,im a chevy dealer in alabama just trying to help u guys out.

You are incorrect sir...the profit margin on a used car is usually substantially higher than on an new car. Most used cars are sold with $2000-$3000 in profit.

and used suv's even more. i've sold and ran a motorcycle shop, and sold used cars. If I was to own a shop I would pick used all day long. But with used you own whats on your floor no flooring, atleast with motorcycles.
