ET drags or ET drag radials? Keep in mind that the car doesn't have enough gear. You only use 3 gears to get down the track. Too much tire, and it will bog or you will just roast the clutch trying to keep the RPM high. I think drag radials would definitely help with consistency, but full slicks would just abuse the clutch trying to get 2 tons moving.

good driving.. 2.0x sec 60ft is the lowest ive seen stock on these cars so far. i predict a 12.8x@111 in colder weather. with youre times it seems like the car runs better hotter.
edit: thought about it and figured the IRS added around 100lbs to the car, then the 20' wheels are really heavy as well.

Wow we need to figure out how to get these heavy *** beasts to hook and pull at least 1.6's (preferably lower) then the times will start to drop off nicely. How tall is the stock tire? Nevermind, found it the 275/40-20 would be 28.7" tall. Damn they need a 4.10 gear and a slick to move out decent off the line, that still leaves room for 129mph in 4th (and 163mph in 5th) should it put down more power than stock.

Suspension, and Clutch???
Since you already have a 600rwhp turbo or SC combo in mind for the power plant I figured I'ld suggest suspension ideas.
Polyurethane bushings, combined with better springs, and struts (to stop wheel hop on a hard launch). You might want to look at the Pedders G8 rear suspension upgrade kits as they share the same rear end and suspension.
Stronger Half shafts and possibly gear stubs (once the wheel hop is gone these will be the weak points).
Lighter control arms (powder coated chromoly -vs- stock gm steel). I don't think anyone has this as of yet, might give Lakewood or BMR a call.
With the rear brake and caliper on the SS being a 13in 2 piston setup. A 17x11 rim should fit in the wheel well and over the brake calipers. This would allow for a tall sidewall DOT Drag radial and later down the road a Crinkle wall slick's. Not to mention a set of Centerline drag star 17x11's probably weigh less then the stock 20x9.5's.
Katech is finishing up a LS9 clutch with an aluminum flywheel combo that will go into the 6 bolt cranks for LS2/LS3/LS7 Vette's. SKU: KAT-A5198.
That clutch and flywheel combo may fit under the bell housing on the Camaro.
The price is kinda steep at $1500, but a Exedy twin disk costs alot more.

Remember, the car companies build for the masses, not the people on here. People want a quiet ride when the windows are up, that takes sound deadener and insulation. The government wants a 5 star/5 star crash rating. That takes a lot of structure along with e usual safety, air bags, bumper structure etc.
Can't make them light and still structurally strong enough to handle the skid pad and horsepower and the IIHS.

If being newer and more refined is all it takes to make a car superior to what came before it, then I guess I might as well toss my Nova in the dumpster at this point.

20" whl/tire weight?
Like it says, has anyone taken a wheel off and weighed one of these 20 inchers? Boy, they (GM--Chevy) sure make things tough for us drag racers....maybe they made this car to road/oval race only????(w/the giant brakes....IRS) The aftermarket people better get off their asses and make some good 20" lightweight whls and 20" drag radials real soon. Roasting the tires off these cars just isn't going to cut it....will be very embarassing to have a can of whoop-*** opened up on you between stoplights on the boulevard by some snot-nosed, text-messaging kid after you just paid $45k plus for one of these SS's.....and he paid less than 1/2 that for his Subaru w/the hood scoop....
