Refreshed 430ci went in today
Finished 95% of the work today, just have to bolt up the starter and the other header/4 spark plugs and make a new vacuum pump hose to the right length. Saved for tomorrow so my mind was right when I doublechecked over everything. Very pleased with how the black intake lid, black fuel rails and black VCs ended up looking. Shitty cameraphone pics... will use my real camera once I have it finished.
Cliffs: 430CI, E85, 2" Headers, GZ Vacuum Pump, TSP Small Bore LS7 heads, 14.7:1 Compression (not a typo), Built 4L80, Circle-d 5C Billet multi stall, Trans-Brake, soon to be under 3400 pounds. Hoping for 630 rwhp through the auto, the old engine made 602 and this one has more compression and a much better intake.
The N/A record is going to get walloped.... :thanks:

To be honest, it really isn't that big for the engine size, but a stock style rocker can only deal with so much lift.
It's a 251/259 .660/.660 113+3 lsa.
Car would probably run better with a 246/270 with a lot more intake and exhaust lift, but the valvetrain wont support that. One of these days I'll do a real motor. RHS bottom, 4.4 stroke and some LSR heads. 480+ inches and 900+hp. Now that would be fun

I just could not bring myself to gut such a nice car. Even the base 1SS is too nice for that. Still you get my respect for wringing every bit out of the car you can.

The engine itself is the cheap part. Shortblock was around 5k, heads around 2400.
But that's really only half the package, and I can't imagine the cost if a shop did all the work. Mine was built in my garage/kitchen.
Other things...
Stupid Fuel System for e85
Stupid Big Injectors
2" Headers
Vac pump
Intake + getting it to fit
Firecore 50 wires
Wiring harness mods so things fit the new intake
etc
etc
It's a lot of suffering, or a lot of labor $$, not even counting trying to pioneer the working man's DIY 4L80 swap into this car 2 years ago.
