I ordered mine today
I ordered mine today I called the chevy dealer by my moms house (I'm a Marine and have to move alot) and got on the 2009 camaro waiting list. I'm #3 on the list. The guy took down all my contact info, and I told him all the options I wanted. Color, tranny, etc...
Since there is no option list out yet, the dealer is supposedly gonna get in contact with me when production options become official. Its a pretty big dealer in washington DC, so I imagine they will get some camaro orders in pretty early on. It won't be like the back country dealers that have to wait a year to get a few new, sought after cars.
Hopefully they actually call me when they are ready to order. I don't trust car dealers, so I can totally see him losing my contact info. I don't want to wait 8months for dealers to have one finally sitting on the lot. I don't want one with shitty options like green paint and tan leather interior.

Since I don't know engine options for sure yet, I want an engine between 400-500hp. It'll be my daily driver, so no LS9 for me. I doubt it'll be an option anyways.

As far as ording a new Camaro this early...
I think I'm going to have to wait. I don't feel like payed 5-10k in mark-up alone. I'll wait for the rush to cut back a little bit.
Being all this is not laid in stone even though I'd bet money it wouldn't happen but the SS could be a v6 for all we know.
Everyones got a buddy whos sister fucked the guy who puts hub caps on Cadailcs and he owes the guy at Chevy $20 bucks for gas who knows a middle manager who heard something, so they become a "GM insider"

In all honesty, I don't think the "waiting list" means ****. I'll bet nothing materializes with it. I'll deal with a G or two in dealer markup, but if they try to charge me $50K for an SS I'm not taking it.
I can't wait for the new camaro to come out, but I'm betting that the greedy dirtbags at the dealer will **** me off so much I won't want one anymore. Oh well. Wishful thinking is better than no thinking.
