Im a collector...at least i plan on being one as long as i can afford to. I figure i'll buy a 09 and DD it and make the 99 into more of a strip car.

Im selling my car for the 5th gen, but then again I have a 01 Gt vert. Im going to the darkside. Im selling it to help in the down payment and kick start the mod fund. I waiting on the second year, even though it will kill me. I dont want to be screwed like the Ls1 GTo guys; so i will wait after the bugs and afterthoughts go through. GM is bad about that.

I at least want a full bolt on 5th gen in the first year.

I'm waiting until I can afford a C6, and by then the value of our cars should go back up.

Whats the down payment going to be on one of those? That $40 a week sounds REALLY good right about now, but after a year its only $2080

Your a 100% correct. Its like that with the LT1s, I have had mine for 7 years now, hasn't been daily driven since 04, car has about 71K miles now and has always been garage kept. Driven very rarely now, but when I go to a car meet, its usually the only LT1 4th gen and if there is another its usually pretty torn up in comparison. I remember it not always being that way, slowly the same thing is happening with the LS1 cars, which is weird because it seems like only yesterday they were brand new on dealer lots. Having stuck with the 93 for so long, I don't care whats the cool or newest car to have, I just go by what I like. I will easily be able to afford the 5th gen by 09 and plan to get one, but I dont see any reason for selling my current 4th gen.

My thoughts exactly.

It's actually surprising how few clean LS1 F-bodies I see on the road. Still quite a few nice ones on the show circuit, but the stuff I see driving around daily is getting pretty rough. Mostly due to the harsh winters around here.

If you are more into the looks an less speed then yeah trade that bitch in casue that new Camaro looks mean as hell.
but mods can change the out come of everything... i doubt the camaro will be a high 13 sec car... if the cobras and gt500's were doing high mid 12's outta the box look for the camaro to do it as well

I just have a feeling that, when the new Camaro comes out, I'm not going to like my 2002 SOM Z28 as much. I can easily convince myself that my solid rear-axle, relatively lightweight Z28 does have its advantages on the dragstrip, but in the end, it's still the older car with the crappy 90's GM interior (a fact, not an opinion). So, I'm thinking about selling it and I'll probably get a decent amount of money for it since it does have the over-rated SOM color, no internal engine modifications, and has the 1SC (stripped-down) options package. And, since the new Camaro hasn't come out yet, now would be the best time to sell it, before its inflated market value of $15,000 turns into $5,000 at the end of 2008. My only problem with selling the car is that I went through blood, sweat, and tears just to pay it off. It has a lot of sentimental value.

Would you sell yours for my same reasons? or would you keep it? Why or why not? Thanks in advance for the replies.
Don't sell your car. You'll never sell it since it doesn't have cruise, crank windows, etc. 99% of the public won't buy a car without those options, or they'll try and lowball you. And it isn't going to depriciate $10,000 in a year and a half either.

The 5th gen will be cool, but the 4th gens have their charm as well. They're awesome cars, and its not like you're going from a 1988 RS with the awesome carbed 305 to a 1993 Z28.

just slam a 427 in your 4th gen, buy new suspension parts, and a paint job and you'll look good while smoking the 5th gen. Cost less too.

I will keep my 4th gen T/A and buy a Camaro in 2009/2010 - Black w/silver stripes performance engine option and 6-speed

The only thing I worry about the 4th gen is if it turns out to be a redneck/mullet car like the 3rd gens, that you see on blocks rusting away in front of 35 year old ratty trailers.

On the other hand when you see a nice 3rd gen what do you think. A very well taken care of 3rd gen gets some respect from me. And I hope to be the same with my WS6.

if you could go back in time and buy a ZL1, copo, yenko, ect... u would do it in a heartbeat right? i am not fortunate enough to have a firehawk, ss, or the zl1 supercar. just a plain t/a. i will keep mine when i buy the new camaro. we all have a dad, grandpa, relative, friend that has said "i wish i still had that car i had in high school or college" or "man we had a lot of fun with that car" so why sell the car u have now?

I will not sell my Hawk for anything. This is my 1st ever new car.Ordered the way I wanted and I knew they were done after that. I am going the other way on the years scale. 1987 Grand National and then a 1967 Chevelle. (in that order) Now, if they make a new Firebird Formula I think that I will get one in silver to replace my 1999 daily driven V6 Firebird.

While I like the look of the Camaro, I'll never buy another first year car again (two bad experiences). Not to mention, with all the craze surrounding it, there will probably be zero negotiating room.

The allure of buying it right away is just that - the allure of being the first one on the block with it. But there will probably be some kinks to work out, maybe some refreshes, etc. I'd much rather wait for a model or two to pass before jumping on the bandwagon.

Plus, this car will be the last two door car I ever own, so I'll just have fun with this one lol.
