Should I keep my 02 Vert which has low miles and still looks & smells like a new car . And take this $15,000.00 I've saved to buy the new Camaro and instead install a LS7 crate motor complete ? One must admit this would make for some very interesting street racing against the new Challenger's & new Camaro's not to mention Vette's .
What would be your advice ?

Depends on your goals. For a drag car I would keep the 4th gen. For a comfortable daily I would get the 5th gen. Did the 4th gen gain weight over the 3rd gen? I bet similar discussion were to be had back then too.
I wonder how many called the 4th gen pigs since it gained a good 300+lbs. I don't see anyone thinking the 3rd gens are better. Not right now at least.

Well it was a hard decision but I did sell mine very recently.
She has been a great car, but it was time for me to be a little more practical and get something that allowed me a little better mileage but still allowed me a very good ride.
You can see my 01 SS and what replaced it at this link. http://s102.photobucket.com/albums/m...view=slideshow
Maybe in 2010 or 2011 I will get the new Camaro.
It has been great talking and exchanging tips with everyone here! You are all second to no-one when it comes to class!![Cheers!!](https://ls1tech.com/forums/images/smilies/LS1Tech/gr_cheers.gif)
Thanks to all!

For the above poster from Bradenton, that Bimmer is a great ride with nice performance BUT you will miss the classic feel of American muscle. Just a totally different beast. Trust me (I have an '02 Z3 3.0L). After 6 months you will be wishing you had both rides. Enjoy the car!

4th Gens will become what the 3rd Gens are now, while the few nice 3rd Gens left will become more valuable, I already see the early 4th Gens in trailer parks in bad condition, so if your worried about resale value then sell now.

I will keep the 4th gen no matter what. I like what I see and many of the rumors I've heard about the 5th gen, but the jury is still out. If it is heavy and expensive with not enough power like the challenger, I won't buy it. If it is what I want (~3500-3700lbs w/400hp LS3 for ~32k or 500hp LSA for ~40k) I'll buy it. If not, Chevrolet is going to have to sell me on whatever they came up with...

I will always have a 4th gen in my garage. If I sell mine, it's only to upgrade to a nicer fourth gen, like a firehawk, or a blackbird, or mint condition Z28/SS with like 20K miles or less on it.

Just to bump a thread, I read the other thread about the resale value of our cars after the 5th gen comes out and I'm certain that our resale values definitely won't improve. Who knows how much they'll dip but I'm seriously considering selling my Z28, and maybe buying another F-body later.
Be prepared to flame away.... but I'm thinking about getting an S2000. I was a Honda guy (so I guess that means I'm fucked up in the head, I'm a ricer, etc.
) before but I've always wanted a roadster that handles great.
And NO I do not think an S2000 is faster than an LS1 F-body, actually I know so. But it does handle a lot better. If anything maybe I'll sell the S2000 and buy a 4th gen after the price drops, or better yet I'll buy a 5th gen!

I sold my '02 Z28 (15k orginal miles) 2 months ago and replaced it with an '02 C5 (16k miles). It was tough to see the Z28 go but I got a good price for it. The new Camaro looks great but I love my C5. Besides, it's paid for.![Nod](https://ls1tech.com/forums/images/smilies/LS1Tech/gr_nod.gif)

Don't sell it, it will be worth bucket loads in 40 years. And if you are hard pressed to sell it, do it a year after the 2010 is out, because your 4 gen might become more popular as well in raise in value.
