hell no.... i would buy my 2002 if it were setting next to a "5th gen" on the lot for the same price.... imo the 02 is the last camaro.. not sure why chevy went retro like ford did with the mustang and dodge, but one thing is for sure the only thing i like about the idea of the new camaro maybe the idea of available motors, but i dont really like the idea of the price tag im sure they'll come with, dont like the huge wheels either, and i can build a much better ls2 ect and put it in my 02 for a lot less...

Lotta 4th gen guys who can afford it are gonna sell theirs for a 5th gen. Gotta keep in mind by 09 the newest 4th gen will be 7 years old the oldest will be 16. Lotta guys are gonna be tired of dumping money in their old 4th gens and want a new cars. You'll have some hard core 4th gen guys trench in and stick with it, but a lot of the people saying they'll stick with their 4th gens are gonna bail out. Its the same reason a lot of people I knew back in the late 90s sold their third gens, cars got old, stuff broke, wanted a new car, so they sold out and went to the "dark side," those guys were also some of the most hard core third gen guys I knew. Most are 4th gen owners now.
well said and i agree 100%, this is why i comepletely stripped mine bare, paid it off, and would prolly only get offered 1000 in a trade with a dealership bc nobody wants a cam or rollbar ect... ive made it impossible to get any money back out of my 02' unless i part the thing out, i did this just incase i liked the 5th gen enuff to get one, now i cant get rid of my 4th gen very easily

honestly after reading about the 5th gen, seeing the pics ect, i think i want a new jeep or something anyways

That's exactly what they are like to drive.

They feel exciting because you never know when an interior part will fall on you while driving or if you'll suddenly head into the ditch when it snap oversteers. I thank my good senses everyday that I didn't waste 30 large on a WS6 when they were new.
If this is your idea of all that an LS1 F-body is, then you are sadly ignorant to what the experiance is all about.

I suppose you'd find a late '60s/early '70s muscle car to be just as poor of a driving experiance then, since they are even bigger, have even more rattles, and have even lesser suspension developement.

Some people can only appreciate a car when it drives like an S-class. Others of us have a more dynamic personality and can appreciate a car that offers a certain rawness combined with power that creates an "American Muscle" feel not found in the "European driving dynamics" that you so love.

I voted no. With my mods I'm hopelessly upside down. Besides I like the car and I don't ever see t-tops for the new cars. Like some of the other posters, I think I might buy a new one and call it a collection!

I'll be keeping mine... Paid for, title in safe deposit box.. i'll wait til 2010!

I already made the mistake of trading a perfect 89 IROC, hard top T5 for the 93 Z28 LT1 when they came out! I thought WOW... What an awesome car!! It has an LT1.. ()

What an idiot.., i'll never make that mistake again.
Not to mention another 2 yrs to mod my current 4th gen!

I have the 2002 Z28 and I agree with the comment that the 02 is the last Camaro. MY plan is to buy a daily driver and keep the 02 as soon as I get out of the M.B.A program i am in and back into a job paying what I'm worth, as a full time student I am currently broke.

OK sure the KBB value is sitting around 15 or 16K depending on condition and features but I think that in 20 years that number will increase threefold.

(I wouldn't mind having some type of older Audi that was designed specifically for winter rally's as a daily driver) and garaging my 02 Z.

Plan on keeping the my current f-body and having more mods by the time the new Camaro's come out. But I could see myself buying a new Camaro 1-3 years after they come out and turning my current f-body into more of a strip car than the street car that it is now.

Im guna love stomping the new 5th gens in my modded 4th.

The new 5th gens look good. But there is none that look as good as an LS1 TA or SS. Well...Maybe a 69 TA But how often do you run across those.

I feel really sorry for the poor old bastard that had this same debate and sold his first gen TA for a 2nd Gen.

I dont know thats a hard question Ive had my 02 35th anniversary camaro ss for 2 years and put quite a bit of money into it so that would be modifing my ss really for nothing and selling it I think I would save up for a new camaro or wait till I could find a used one later but not sell my 4th gen

I'll definitely be getting one when they come out... I think the new car is great, looks like they've made a lot of strides to make the car a more refined, all-around sports car.

What I think is funny is this same debate happened back in '96-'97. "Are you going to get this new LS1 Camaro?" And people said things like... "Hell no... my LT1 is paid for!" and "My modded LT1 would kick the crap out of the LS1 any day!" and "what's with the rounded headlights? Those are terrible!" blah blah blah...

And guess what? I would rather own an LS1 Camaro any day over an LT1... I like the look, I like the fact you start with a faster car right out of the gate stock-for-stock, and I liked the improvements made to the car. I'm sure the new Camaro will have much the same reception... people will warm to it pretty quickly once it's out there.

Selling the F-body for a new Camaro will be like selling it for another car. F-bodies are gone. Done. They using Zeta, so basically F-bodies are different cars. This will increase values for non modded cars as there will never be another F-body produced from GM.

But if someone does wanna sell one cheap for a down payment, I'm looking for a Black/Black M6 LS1 =]

But seriously, I do believe f-bodies can only gain value. As long as someone didn't drive it to hell and back...

i wouldn't trade my 2001 camaro SS for the new camaro, or even the ZR-1 for that matter. i might sell my C5 Z06 someday in order to buy a C6 Z06. other than that i am done with chevy, dodge and ford. as a result of the new federally mandated 35 mpg fleet average the muscle car and sports car wars are gonna come to a rapid end just like they did in the early 70's. my next car will more than likely be a Ferrari.

You know you can get a lightly used Ferrari for around 40 grand, right? Lol...

And by lightly I mean 4 digits or less on the speedo.

Meh, Vettes are meant to be driven hard. The ones that are driven hard have dynoed higher stock numbers too

As for me, I only recently got my 4th gen but I plan on keeping it. I'm gonna borrow a phrase from my father at this point. It's not eating or drinking anything so why the ***** would I sell it? That said, he is probably going to get one so I'll borrow it for a month or two and see how I like it as a daily driver first. It's kinda nice to know you can make a phone call and borrow a 5th gen whenever without paying a payment
