Granted it was the best place... at least for "looks". I really prefer the ones where the license plate folds down and the gas cap is under neath it.
However.... manufacturers are reluctant to put a gas fill on the back of the cars now for safety reasons.... if you are filling up and some idiot comes slides into your car... you will be RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE of the MESS. Literally.

I honestly don't care. My first car (93 taurus) had it on the passenger side, so when I got my camaro I pulled up on the wrong side a few times
In some ways passenger side is nicer though because I never had to worry about being too close to the pump to get the door open. This one Pilot station I've gone to a couple times has a really high concrete slab the pump sits on and has these huge concrete posts at each end, such a pain.

Oh god. This is terrible news. I am completely shattered. How ever will I walk around to the passenger side to fill up my tank!? I may have to excsersize before I can drive it, just to walk around to that side of the car!

No ****! Now you have to get out and take three extra steps AROUND the car!!! **** me! You'll probably lose an extra 10 pounds just having to walk that much farther to fill up the new Camaro!
You'll probably wreck like 10 times trying to get the passenger's side lined up to the pump, too!

I like it better on the right....less lines at gas stations, 99% of cars have it on the drivers side so everybody sits in line for that particular side of the pump...meanwhile, the pump will be open for whoever has it on the right.

Actually the way we drive isn't weird, England, India, Japan, and Australia are the only major countries that drive on the left side of the road. The majority of the world drives on the right.
