I'm sure they'll be a little quicker than the 4th gens. They've got 422hp and a launch control system for a reason. I know about the weight and all but I have a feeling the 5th gen Camaro SS has many tricks up its sleeves. They just let us know that it'll run ATLEAST 13.4. That was probably done very easily! I wouldn't be suprised if it ran 12.7s or maybe a few 12.6s!

All of you guys comparing GMs times to your personal times in your cars make me laugh.
Apples to apples the new car is faster. Just comparing it ot the Challenger SRT8 stats and its times you should see that it will be an easy 12 sec car stock, and probably low 12s in good air. Intake/dr and tune will be a high 11s car in the right air as well.

Plus I do trust Octane and his sticky on the Z28 not being dead but, just delayed!! Plus !
SuperChevy :
Supercharged Z28 Saved!!
Last week's superchevy.com web exclusive about the death of the supercharged 2010 Camaro Z28 created a lot of controversy in the Motor City. There are apparently many inside GM who were more than a little unhappy with your faithful scribe.
Was the Z28 dead, as we had heard, or is it safe?
We were deluged with e-mails from all over the world from the Camaro faithful once our story broke--the pleas came from all over the United States and Canada. They even came from as far as France, Iceland and the Czech Republic. How cool is that? We passed them on to the people who matter at GM--those who still have the passion.
The latest we heard, from a very well-placed source, is that the Camaro Z28 is indeed alive. It probably won't arrive in 2010, but it looks like the future of the ultimate F-body is secure.

well you were the one that said the v6 camaro would take a mustang did you not?
Sorry i guess cocky would be the wrong word for it, optimistic would be a better term.
and yes i hate to say it but half the stuff that goes on in this site members and sponsers a like is just a load of bull sh*t.
There are a few that have intelligent things to say, but unfortunately they dont post much or they just got banned for saying the truth.
Sorry for the rant just my 2 cents

Maybe not the new one's idk much about them, but I was picturing the older one's, I think it's interesting to see a v6 camaro in the 300hp range, might be heavy but it's gonna be ironic seeing some mustangs have a good race with them, and I have nothing against mustangs, same goes for the older camaro's like lt1 and older. I just never thought I'd see a v6 version of a muscle car with that much power, I'm curious what a few bolt on's and tire's can do for it. And weight reduction when they are a little older.

Much faster than my 98 auto trans am was...when I had longtube's and full exhuast and lid, I ran a best of 13.6, was hitting 14's that day too, granted it was extremely hot out but still, 98's were high 13's, my buddies 98 SS manual that day could only do a best of 13.7, and he had gears as well.

just to clear things up.. im not saying a stock ls1 will run with a new camaro.. hell i hope it doesnt, that would be sad.. and disapointing for me.. i hope they do REALLY good.. what im trying to say is its 10 years newer.. it should be dragging ls1s.. not barely inching off from them.

Bingo... I am glad I have one now, it is just as fast as the new Camaro.
The IRS is causing the Poor 1/4 Mile Times, it's going to be a bitch to Launch.

I think those numbers are about right for the weight, look at the GTO, it's weights 100 lbs less than the camaro with IRS and simular HP, I think 12.9's will be rare stock.....

IRS is in all the worlds best cars.
Even the USA big boys, ZR1, Viper, GT etc.
Live axles suck.

And it does matter what year, the last 2 years had the ls6 intake, maybe you should take your own advise.

Never cease's to amaze me how full of themselve's people are behind a computer screen. I'm not trying to say all 98's run high 13's, I'm saying it's possible with the right weather, sometime's even probable, and I mentioned it was very hot that day, very bad conditions. I mentioned it as an example to magazine time's, just because one magazine has a 13.4 doesn't mean someone else can't do much better, as shown compared to my time's back when I first ran down the track, while other's are low 13's and some breaking into the 12's.
And it does matter what year, the last 2 years had the ls6 intake, maybe you should take your own advise.

wow, you really think you know a lot.. whats bigger.. a 98 cam or an 02 cam?
like i said.. year doesnt matter.. ive beaten newer fbodys.. yes that includes 01 and 02s.. and ive been beaten by older ones.. 98s-00s.. ran better times and worst times.. stock for stock... and mod for mod.. hell in my TA i ran better times that people with 02 ws6s.. and people with ls1 vettes.. so no it doesnt matter with year or make....
****little advice: read the stickies.. it will only back up what im saying.. only noobs or people that are FULL OF THEMSELVES that own 01-02 models.. think that there is a world of difference.. or hell any difference at all for that matter..
your dumb.
