I am reading into the comments from GM engineers, they say it will be slightly faster than the Challenger, the Challenger has avg time of 13.3 so I beleive avg times from the Camaro will be 13.0 thats my guess.

Th SS Camaro I feel is more of a compeditor to the Challenger than the Mustang GT, since they keep on using the SRT8 as a bench mark.

From Drag Times
13.310 108.110 Dodge Challenger SRT8 2008 Stock 4100 lbs 425 HP 5spd Automatic

12.500 114.770 Shelby GT500 Coupe 2008 Stock 3920 lbs 500 hp 6 spd Manual (not avalable in auto)

Future Drag Times listing
13.001 108.240 Chevrolet Camaro SS 2010 Stock 3900 lbs 400 hp 6spd Automatic

Not to be a dick, but don't run 1/4th time comparisons using crank horsepower. The SRT8 makes about 390-400 to the wheels, if not less. The GT500 makes 480. The SS Camaro, at a claimed 422, will probably make about 390-400 as well. Also; you list the SS as the 400hp version, incorrect, only the 6-speed will have 400-odd horsies.

no they wont put down 390-400rwhp. LS3 vettes are putting down 370-390 stock and they have less drivetrain loss as well. Im not sure on the rwhp numbers for the 6.1 hemi so im not going to comment.

you are incorrect as well my friend

I listed the Automatic Version 1, because it was faster than the manual 422hp SS and 2, the Challenger only comes in Automatic the first year. The Shelby is not offered in an Automatic. so the best compairison would be with the challenger SRT8 Right ? Makes sense too me.

BTW, the Stock SRT8 is putting down 350-370 RWHP (Auto)
The GT500 is more like 440 RWHP
so my Guess for the SS would be
360-380 for the Auto and 370-390 for the Manual and only because GM is better than Dodge is why I make the number a bit higher....

There is no way to know the new SS's RWHP, so there really is no other choice but to use flywheel/crankshaft horsepower.

2008 C6 Corvette dyno pull. 370.8 rwhp bone stock, and most are saying thats high...

I beleive that the LS3 is under rated or restricted by the intake. I think with just an intake and tune the Camaro will see 450 BHP. thats 400 RWHP easy

You are really involved in the Camaro threads! Are you going to sell the Mustang GT for one? Just curious.

Before you ask, Im keeping my C6 but if I didnt have it I would grab a Camaro, obseity and all.

Nope Going to Park the Camaro right next to my Mustang, Right next to my Wifes C6 Corvette..

I am a Muscle Car Lover I could careless about brands, although the Mustang is my First Ford Product I ever owned, I have mostly owned GM Products, not because they were GM just because I liked the product at that time.
I currently Own a
2000 Z71 Silverado 4X4 Off Road (Winter Driver)
2007 C6 Vette (Wifes)
2004 Chrysler 300M (Daily Driver) will trade on Camaro
2005 Mustang GT (Become Daily Driver)

the link you gave was a dyno of an automatic car. 370 is on the low side for an m6.

that is very solid for an auto...I didnt know they were that high...very cool. and you can add 5-10 hp to that number once the motor is broke in.

For an AUTO with barely 30 mile's on it, that's not bad at all imo.

Are there any dyno's out yet with a well broken in manual version?
