l99 vs ls3

Yeah I'm thinking the A6 sport mode shifting will be very very similar to that of the CTS & Corvette with that slight delay.
It's not horrible, but it's not great either.
That said, I'm sure you can learn to compensate for the delay if you use it enough.
But for road racing and things like that (and autocross to a degree) a real manual will always be better.

(For the record, I have not driven any vehicle with the "Tap Shift" feature, so I wasn't sure if the shifts were instant, or laggy.)

with the automatic 6speed it wasn't designed like an F1 car so I'm not surprised that there is a small delay. I'd bet there is also something else going on either mechanically or electronically that is the reason for the delay. I'm curious if anyone knows if the car will rev-match before the downshift during "sprirted" driving, that would kick ***

If i were to get one, i would go with the stick. Just because they are more fun and it is really YOU shifting the gears, not the computer. To me it makes me feel like part of the car and not just somebody riding inside it...

Did Pontiac build an auto TTA?
Did Chevy build an automatic LS6 Chevelle?
Yep. Real men don't need to grab a stick and yank it around.
I'm still really on the fence here. I was set on getting the new Camaro with an A6/LS3 combo, but the L99 has really turned me off. I just don't like the idea of DOD on a V8 Camaro. I know it can be tuned out, but there still seems to be a power penalty of 20-30hp with the L99 based on GM's ratings vs the LS3. I'm almost ready to just move on to a C6, but part of me still wants to wait till I actually see/drive a new Camaro next year. Tough call. But if I'm not happy with the L99/A6 combo, then I'm just moving on to a C6. I have no use for an M6 Camaro.

Who cares? One was a G-body, one an F-body, and one an A-body. They are performance cars, top performers of their day in fact, with automatic transmissions.
On the street, a 6-speed auto is the best choice for a heavily populated urban area, IMO. I wouldn't have it any other way, "sports car" or not.

My guess is the A6 car will be faster in the 1/4 mile even though it gives up 20 hp. They have a 4.027 first gear compared to a 3.08 for the 4l60E and a 2.66 for the MN6. 2nd (2.36) and 3rd gear (1.53) are geared pretty good as well. The A6 Camaro gets a 3.27 rear gear compared to the optional (2.56 is standard) 2.73 for the A6 equipped C6. That's very aggressive gearing from the factory that will only help ET. Keep in mind GM also addressed the shift delay for the newest MY C6 by increasing shift speeds in the TCM. Of course, tuning software can be used to further improve the shift feel.

sounds 100X more fun to me. I'm sure I'll get an M6, but I'd love to test drive an A6.

I don't buy a performance car to putt around town, but if I end up in traffic I'm not going to complain about shifting, because its not hard, and worth the performance benefit to me in the long run.
Never said it was.

You don't see shifting as a hassle because you like it. For someone like me that finds it annoying, doing so in traffic is an even bigger pain. I'd say 10% of my time in a Camaro I'd like to have a manual. Not worth putting up with for the other 90% though.
