I brought a 02 ws6 32k miles on it..... Drove it about 15 miles and the rear end locked up doing 70 on the highway.... Had to have it towed back to the dealership and they ordered the wrong rear end (took another week) about a week and half later I got my car back (this monday) and love it.. You should of made them fix it at their cost and kept your car . After driving mine 15 miles I was already hooked lol.. about 700 miles later and it runs strong about to go put it up on jack stands and put my long tubes and slp on )

Nice sig Jason...

Sorry to hear that what Fbody did you buy? I would buy from a private party and have it inspected. I found a clean WS6 with 20k on the clock. Don't give up man, keep your chin up and just shop around.

I found one with 52000 miles the lady wants 12000 which is high. I might go back to the dealer ship and buy it but only if they give me some type of warranty

Bought mine a week ago (99 WS6) for $6960... I don't see why anyone would buy a mustang, when you can get an fbody, for a great price... keep looking or make them fix it...

The whole thing is around here(philly area) there are not many WS6's and firebirds so there worth alot more 7600 for mine was one hell of a deal for a 5th gen firebird I am set on a 5th gen firebird there so sexy, the car needed tires and rotors which was fine because I want to put slotted and drilled on mine, and tires I wouldnt mind new ones. I wish I could find a roller with no motor and no drivetrain but thats almost inposs.

honestly a pulley is a very easy fix... i just replaced my belt tensioner because it kept throwing my belt off. I bought a katech solid belt tensioner for $150 and that solved my problem, also right now i have a problem with my ta mount which i will be fixing tomorrow. Things will break and that is something you have to get used to but that shouldn't discourage you especially when it is something that isn't major. Overall my car has been great the past 5 years i have owned it and anytime something breaks i just suck it up and fix it.

I think you mean fourth gen...

I would definitely get another F-Body though. MUCH MUCH MUCH better than a Mustang.

Is it just me or does the "e-brake" not do much for stopping since I have forgot to put it down a few times before driving and didnt even notice it was there lol. And it you got a 5th gen for 7600 hold on to it since there was only one made

Word on the previous owner statements....i didnt read the entire thread...

My 1997 was BEATEN down by the previous owner, nitrous, the whole bit...i had ALOT of problems with it....but still loved it...

My 2000 had nothing done to it but a k & N filter, and not a single thing has gone wrong with it (knock on wood). Ive had it for a year and a half and havent replaced one part....

I bought them BOTH with 63,000 miles on them.....what a difference.....although the lt1 vs. ls1 argument could be thrown in here as well....

Holly ****, it looks like the center bolt backed all the way out or broke.

That would take some work to fix.

If you like the car, I would keep it and make the dealer fix it. **** happens.

I can't see the extent of the damage from the pics. The crank might be damaged, if so the block will have to be pulled. If not, the front main will need to be replaced at the very least along with the harmonic balancer.

What does the dealer have to say?

Also the bottom of the car looks very oily, and not just from the front main. Also your steering rack bellow is blown out.

How much did you pay for the car?

it seems the balancer was incorrectly installed and the gm tty bolt my not have been torqued correct.
it is not a gm defect,
some dumbass just did not do a proper job of installing the balancer.
imo, keep the car and get them to drop the price.
or just take back your$ and go some where else. or wait around for while
for another
