Yup. I'd have to agree. A F-body is a cake walk compared to driving my '69 C10 around in the rain. Try having 0 visability, no power brakes, no power steering, no nothing, and taking turns at 15mph still having the *** end break loose....

My car had no trouble in the rain with the stock goodyear gsw's or whatever they are. Its all in the tires. Of course in less your puttin 400 to the ground then your just gonna have trouble.

Now my 98 S-10 with skinny tires and no power brakes would spin around and lock up in a heartbeat. But I ended up putting fatter better tires on it and it helped a lot.

55mph? When the roads are wet you can spin them at 5mph.

The challenge when the roads are wet is NOT to let them spin... gets harder as the HP and torque go up...

if you have a 6 speed, then just shift at 2000 rpms. No turbo will spool up at 2k. No cam will have its power band at 2k. I dont see what the problem is. Just ease the gas and shift at 2k everytime.

Us A4 guys with gears are a little bit f*cked. With mine, i go to pass someone at 45 in the rain, nothing but tire spin and sideways WITH all season tires.

You don't have TCS do you? It seems most people don't like it, and for launching in dry conditions it really sucks but it does has some benefits when driving in the rain. I broke traction in 4th in the rain before and the TCS kept the *** end from spinning around pretty well.

Get some Goodyear GS-D3s, they grip quite well when its dry and are very good in the rain too. That's all I've run for the past 50,XXX miles.

My tires are original and they are balder than Larry David. I really haven't had any trouble in the rain at all. As long as I drive somewhat conservatively, I wont spin the tires at all.
To answer your question: You DO realize that you have a whole buncha torque just off idle, so shift at 1500 rpm take it easy, no issues then.

Be gentle with the gas peddle and try to peddle if the tires spin. As long as you don't drive crazy you should be fine

2k clutch dumps can break tires loose, heck even a 1700rpm one will do it so I tend to launch off idle most of the time or below 1500 rpm. If I go hard on the throttle just off idle, I can break tires loose, but it depends on weather and the tires used.

Launching from a dead stop, going to 2/3 or more throttle.

If on my 315's and dry, traction will hold till about 3k then wheel spin occurs but the tires will fight to hold grip.

If on my 315's and wet, 1800-2000 rpm is when that occurs.

If on my 245 tires, it takes about 1/2 throttle to do the same thing, and about 1/3 throttle on 215 tires.

Just because an engine isn't in its power band, doesn't mean its not making any torque. We tend to think just because we are making good torque from 2500rpm onwards, doesn't mean that the torque down low isn't good either. Last I tested on a dyno, I was still pulling 240 ft/lb of torque at 1800 rpm. Contrast the 350ft/lb I was making at 2700rpm and 360 at 3500 and 370 at 4200rpm...

So while it "feels" like there's less power, doesn't mean there is 0 power. How many LSx cars can still do a highway overtake as well or better than most econobox cars at 65mph on a whim without having to downshift? I'm sure most of us don't even think about it when were doing long highway cruises and just decide to pass on command. Heck I do that with my cruise control button...

Take my friend's jeep that if he's in 6th gear, add rain, or wind or a hill and 6th can't even hold speed and opening the throttle is like you aren't doing anything. That's the definition of no torque.

I don't see what the big deal is. I have driven my H/C car dozens of times in the rain. Never had a single issue. It behaves just like any other car I driven in the rain. I guess you are to heavy on the gas....or you need to work you clutch a little better/maybe smoother.....?????

Good tires are a must. I run 315 Nitto DRs and traction is pretty good as long as you arent trying to loose control.

The worst time ive ever had in the rain was on a trip to vegas it was pouring rain and I still had street tires. If I went over 45 mph the back end would slide out. Took about 7 hours to get there.

I do it all the time... If its givin you trouble keep it a gear up, and just be easy on the foot. Other than that... don't just hammer the pedal, lay on easy and all will be fine. Oh, and just be gentle on the clutch.

+1 on this statement too. I've driven my car on street tires and drag radials in the rain and have never had a problem.

if you can not drive your car in the rain/snow(not blizzards im talkin 2-3inchs) than please go to the dmv hand in your l's and use your car as a lawn ornament. I have never and will never buy a car that i can't drive in the street(unless it's a drag car that i drive on the street but thats different lol) i understand not wanting to drive the car in the snow because i don't want to but i can and i will, i'm picking up a little s10 beater for this winter though so i can stop putting all the miles on the ta. seriously just drive the car and don't be stupid and youll be fine. i've driven f-bodies in the rain where you can't see the front bumper from the windshield with out a problem and in up to 4" of snow and the only problem i've had is stopping nothing else and that was in snow. if you have commen sense youll be fine.

Ive only driven my car in the rain a couple of time, and that was before the major mods. I found it to be easy, just let the clutch out nice and slow without a lot of throttle. The only time i spun was out of curiosity. She was bogging a little in third and I just had to see if she would spin the tires that low in third so I rolled into the throttle and about 3/4 throttle she started spinning. After that I just drove normal and had no problems.

my ls1/t56 rx7 weighs 2700lbs, has 4.10's, and crappy 205 street tires, yes 205's. i have no problem what so ever in the rain. not hard to understand, the road is slick and your driving on it, just take it easy. my biggest problem in the rain is no a/c with the windows up sucks in florida. plus i can barely see out the 5% tint.

my stalled s10 with built sbc and drag radials had no problems in the rain either. i had trouble accelerating and keeping up with traffic without spinning with street tires. it had a th350 i could be cruising 3rd gear and give it like 10% throttle to go around someone and it would break loose, lol it was pretty bad. but then i got nitto d/r's and it hooked up very well in the rain.
