With my long tube headers my car just seems like it has no ***** at low rpm's. I know the long tube headers cause that and what not. But the only i way i can explain it is that it feels like a turbo. It seems like it is taking awhile to spool up. Anything I can do? I am working on a 9 inch so im holding off on the gears.

I know exactly how you feel I felt the same thing after spending a ton of money on my exhaust I killed my low end. Then I read an artical in Popular Hotrodding magazine that explained a lot to me. Basically if yours is like mine your exhaust sytem is out of phase and the exaust tuning has changed. What worked for me was extending the collectors w/3" pipe 33" back then stepping back down to 2 1/2" pipe. Also on the Y for your Y pipe if you don't already have it then install the Flowmaster Y collector there. Available through Summit Racing/Jegs. My exhaust shop thought it was a waste of time and said I was nuts till the saw my timeslips and that I gained 2/10ths in the 1/8th mile doing this simple modification. Trust me I've spent close to $1,000 in labor to find this out. Good luck. I really think this will solve your problem.

Even better that is what I have. I went from headers 33" w/ 3" pipe. Stepped down to 2 1/2". Then Dr. Gas x pipe to chambered mufflers. If you don't have 3" all the way back I HIGHLY recommed the collector extensions! Huge torque from low to the midrange is to be found! Most perople who have glass packs do not have to do this because the glass pack actually reacts like an extension to the collector as far as exhaust pulses are concerned. Chambered mufflers react like an opened unmuffled exhaust as far as exhaust pulses. If you have 3" all the way back I suggest bullet style mufflers or glass packs.

Thats ok. If I were you and you had the x pipe I would do as follows. From the collector on the header instead of stepping down to 2 1/2" just use 3" pipe all the way for 33" long then go a head and step down to 2 1/2" pipe. Then go to x pipe then to chambered mufflers. Do you have 3" all the way back or 2 1/2"? also for sure what mufflers are you running? Bullets or chambered like magnaflow, flowmaster,or Cherry bomb extreme?

If your not running any mufflers then that is your problem. The magnaflow will act in the same way but not to that extent. If you plan on running the bullets then do the same thing that I stated earlier just extend the collector to 24" instead of 33". Trust me I've changed my exhaust more times than I care to admit. ok over 20 times.Yeah I know. But I wanted to get it just right. I've been told that I'm my exhaust shops #1 customer. They don't even charge me now for any welding they figured I've paid enough and I have brought them so much buisness. If done right you wont have to go back any more.

It sounds like your exhaust is doing nothing for you. You need mufflers on the car for the scavenging affect. If you put a muffler back on it, it will bring the power band back down in the RPM range. Put a cutout in for the track.
