The longest was the trip home from buying the black WS6 in Florida all the way back to Kansas!! Since then it has been to Chicago and back for a Speed Inc after the new motor's break-in for a DT and also on many random 100+ mile trips here and there! Just break in that new motor and go!!!

done that. built a 355 domer motor for my old 69 SS camaro in my basement.dropped it in the next day and broke it in at 10 p.m. at night .changed the oil, and raced it at 8 a.m. the next morning. flat tappet hydraulic too. but that was when oil had the good polluting stuff in it.

I wouldn't get to far from the shop that is responsible for any warranty work. The engine itself is not the issue. All the connections, wires, hoses, sensors any any thing else that was moved, removed, repositioned or otherwise changed.
If you were picking it up new from GM I'd say follow normal engine brake in on a trip or what ever.
But, an aftermarket upgrade on a used car may have a few bugs that need working out.

I picked up a brand new car in Hamilton New Jersey coming back from being stationed in England in '83. I was heading back to Kansas City Missouri. I stopped to get gas about 1/4 mile down the road from the dealer and the shifter broke at the pumps! Overnight delay and on the road at 9am the next day.
Did a trip from Omaha to Montana and back this summer. +2000 miles. The Camaro was outstanding on the open highway, and didn't even give a hiccup. Awesome for a 102,000 mile vehicle.
But a newly rebuild motor...I'd drive it as long as you could before getting out on the road. Best to have it near the guy that did the build if it wasn't put back together right, and near your home and toolbox if it's something you need to take care of. There's nothing better than an uneventful trip. Those don't just happen, most of the time.

I've done Detroit to San Francisco. The long way. i dropped down the i75 till I hit what I think is the I40, then cut cross continent, on the way back I did I80 till around Chicago.
edit, there was an oil change done somewhere in Cali, can't recall where I stopped.

St. Louis, MO to Valdosta, GA I flew to MO to buy the car and drove it back... it was basically stock with a Cat-back and a Lid. Wasn't a bad drive at all.

drove my 95 from edmonton ab to woodstock ont 3750km, returned to edmonton, another 3750 and then moved to woodstock which was another 3750km (2344miles) the only prob i had was hitting a deer, but was lucky enough to keep on driving without any problems, although once i reached woodstock the car was in the shop for 2+weeks, and they gave me a sunfire too drive so i guess the first big road trip was near 4700 miles round trip

In 2000, my wife and I drove from Vancouver,B.C. , down to San Bernadino,Cali. , for the 2000 Power Tour. The tour went to Panama City,Fl. After that we went to Key Largo, stayed a week, then drove to Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Stayed at my family home there for 2 weeks, then drove to Daytona, Fl. After a week or so we went to San Diego for a another week or so, then drove back here to Vancouver. We bought the car new in '99, and on that trip we put over 12,000 miles on it.The trip lasted 6 weeks to the day. We took our time between stops, and stayed a couple days in a couple other places. [not 1 problem with the car at all]

The tahoe with 140,xxx miles we drive all over the place and get 17mpg bought it with 88,xxx in march of 06. best road trip vehicle i have ever been in, besides the gas mileage.
