Drove from Orlando to Atlanta in my old 92 GTA Yellow/Blk int. 5.7 car. I loved that car. Not so sure I want to do that again.

Default Route 66 trip

Just completed a 2200 mile round trip from NW Il down Route 66 to Texas and straight shot back home. Came back through a major snowstorm in central Iowa this Wed. A gruelling 5 hours at 35-40 mph on frozen snow with Goodyear Eagle F1 GS "summer tires". Talk about stressed out! Passed at least a hundred cars ditched or wrecked on I80. Made it through without mishap and the car ran perfectly the whole trip! Wasn't any snow in the forecast when we left last Saturday. So much for the weather forecasters!

Wow, this is still going!

I really want to take my SS on this trip from Louisiana to San Fran thru Wyoming, Colorado into Nebraska then south back to Louisiana. First, the car has to get finished, then I have to get it to LA. Finally, I'll have to convince the fiance that it will be fine to take it. Although, driving through Tahoe may be near impossible in Feb with it.

We recently drove her 2006 Mazda Tribute (4cyl, 4dr, front wheel drive) from LA to Omaha. After 2000 miles round trip it got an average of 22mpg, from a 4 banger. Driving 75mph I thought it would have done much better than that. Oh well, it is a good car for around town. In the rain. And hail. (I hate this thing.) I would sell it, but she bought it under pressure when we started dating and paid FULL PRICE! She has had it 2.5 years and still has $14k to pay on it. Thank God my stuff is all paid off (gotta love 15 month deployments!).

I will most likely drive my Zr2 Blazer on this trip. It does well on the hwy and at 80mph will get 17-18mpg.

Longest so far was a trip to ohio to pick up my headers it was between 300 and 350 miles, my seats got a little uncomfrotable, but other than that great trip. Got to play with a few cars to and from there as well.

Round trip to see my parents in northern NC was roughly 1,200 miles. I made that trip in the SS twice without any problem. Now I'm much more heavily modded -- I would trust the car to get me there and back, however I just drive my other car to NC now because I'd like to keep the miles down on the SS.

My longest trip was this summer, damn near 3000 mile trip. Champaign IL, to Valdosta GA, to Houston TX, and back to Champaign. Did the Houston to Champaign in 21 hours. It was right at 1000 miles. Averaged 31mpg with 410 RWHP.

Once drove from D.C. to Illinois in 6 hours and 41minutes. Its 605miles. Do the math I was speeding

I picked up a 92 Firebird in Orlando this spring and put on 3300 miles on a week and a half road trip with my girlfriend. After spending some time in Orlando, we went to Daytona Beach, Savannah, Bowling Green, Louisville and home to North Battleford, Saskatchewan, Canada.

Bringing this thread from the dead.

I just made a 3800 mile road trip from Pasadena California to Beaumont, Austin, Dallas and Fort Worth Texas and back.

Car ran flawless, I averaged about 28mpg.

Got a ticket in Sonora Texas Sutton county for doing 93mph in a 80mph.

I left Friday June 4th at 10:30pm and made it back by Wednesday June 9th at 11:30pm.

That's really cool , it's intersting to read about other LS1 members and thier road trips.

I liked the driving but I didn't like putting all those miles on my car.
