Corvettes were never, and are still not about strait line speed.
The ZR1 has some amazing brakes, adaptive magnetic dampers, and aero work. The point of the ZR1 is to have a faster all around car than the Z06, while being more comfortable.

well if I had 100K sitting around I would buy the ZR1. Why because the guy at the end of my street has a C6 Z06 and I would be better than him because of the name. I don't care how fast his Z06 is compared to my ZR1, but I would still have a ZR1.
Also the looks, when I first saw the C6 corvette I said wow. If I'm going to get a corvette it has to be the C6. Then the Z06 came out, I changed to if I'm going to get a corvette it has to be the C6 Z06. Now with the ZR1 out, I need the ZR1 to be satisfied.
But that's just me.

I am getting sick of seeing these arguments. Of course you could buy an F-Body and make it faster than a Vette. You could buy a C6 and make it faster than a zo6. You could by a zo6 and make it faster than a zr1. Its not complicated, but there is something that goes with owning these cars it is not just about speed.

Look at what the ZR1 target competition is then ask yourself the question again. It's not about how fast in a straight line, it's the total package turn key from the dealer and with a warranty. For straight line speed you can get a $500 shell and turn it into a quarter mile beast. Just my opinion.

GM did not build the Z06 or the ZR1 for people that want to buy a cheaper vehicle and make it faster. they built it for the people that want a great all around car that comes with a warranty. Yes you could take a f-body or a base Vette and make them faster, but you still wouldn't have the warranty when something breaks.

If you're gonna play the "he has a better/faster/more expensive/etc. toy than me" game why not just go buy a used Ferrari for $80,000 and call it a day if all you want is name recognition? Because at the end of the day, he has a corvette that everyone sees all the time and you'd have a head turning Ferrari. Plus you'd save $20,000 from not buying a ZR1.

You guys are missing the fact that a ZR1 is not just faster. It's better EVERYTHING. EVERYTHING is upgraded. And it has a warranty. Build a ZO6 to go faster than a ZR1 (faster, not better brakes, handling etc) break something and try and take it to the dealer and explain your lopey cam, LT headers and why the interior just happens to be completely empty aside from a steering wheel and a seat.
If you don't get laughed at, call me so I can get my car fixed under warranty which expired a year and 20k miles ago.

ZR1 has the same brakes as the Enzo. Its a track machine.
