"Evan Griffey served as an editor of Turbo & High Tech Performance, a pioneering publication about sport-compact tuning. Today Griffey freelances for Import Tuner, Sport Compact Car, Car Audio and Siphon."
What a surprise
This guy is a typical on paper numbers racer (ricer) through and through.

uh....wait...he's talking about the Vette's lack of volumetric efficiency, but somehow it's the car with the BEST lb/HP rating in his list...wow, what a jackass.
I'd love to argue with this guy...

I love people/articles like this.
A turbo I4 or I6 is a fun, good sounding car....
But when you rev your engine with multi carbs and flames shooting out of your open headers babys cry, women get turn on and you feel like a Million bucks.
I think the future will be full of small engine's and big turbo's...but I HOPE that there will always be a V8 option.
The small block Chevy will always out run and out class any turbo charged engine...90Million+ units to date and still going...
I plan on buying an R34 Skyline someday, and an AE86 Hachiroku would be loads of fun...but nothing under the sun beats a V8 it is pure testosterone.
The smell, the feel, the emotion and the tradition all play into why we all own the cars we own.
Love what you will, mod what you will, I just hope that this brand of thinking doesn't kill the future of the small block Chevy....sorry just my thoughts.

Yup, the Vette has the BEST lb/HP rating on that list and 26 miles highway to boot. There are six cars on his list that have worse mileage than that and most are 2.something liter cars.

All his info is listed at the end of the article
But go figure, his email is not...
Thank you.
We have nothing to worry about because his ricer math doesn't change the facts. Fact is the LSx engines are lighter than most turbo powered engines(thanks to all the piping, intercooler, turbo(s), and the fact they usually use iron blocks), while also being dimensionally as small/smaller AND cheaper.
The biggest thing I love here is the irony that the top list of cars he put together have all had LSx swaps in them (save for the Cobalt and MazdaSpeed3) by someone. There is a reason that so many people are swapping their higher hp/l engines for the LSx's...

By the way I love your WS6.

"The 'Vette illustrates the volumetric inefficiency of the V8. It produces only 69.3 hp/liter."
This guy needs to be punched in the face, hard. I ******* hate ricers, his entire article is so flawed its not even funny.
This is what happends when you let F&F **** on the internet.

The dumbass(s) that did the pictures have the Evo listed as having a 12.08 ratio like it's a good thing, but it's 4th from the bottom of all of the vehicles listed, even including the Silverado truck. I guess they didn't realize that they listed it as a 12.08 hp/lb ratio but it should be a 12.08 lb/hp ratio, that changes everything! Can you imagine a 12.08 hp/lb ratio? lol
Quote:
The Mitsubishi Evo X combines variable valve technology and turbocharging into 291 horsepower, 145.5 hp/liter and a 12.08 hp/lb ratio, which doesn’t account for its tenacious AWD system.
