To the OP: If you're going to use it as a DD and rack up the mileage I say no, don't buy it. However, if it is something you will take care of and have fun with (garaged toy), I say go for it.

i sold my 02 firehawk and bought a 86 gn with 56k on it. the only thing i dont like about the gn is that once you start modding it. **** breaks! i already blew a head gasket. but the feeling you get from a boosted car is unreal once the boost kicks in! i still havent worked out all the kinks in it but should be running at 18lbs of boost and once i get alky it will be at 27lbs running around 10.5s.

its for sale also

It would just be driven once and a while like my SS now.
Actually I have had to put lots of miles on the SS as of lately but thats not normal for me.
I drove a T Type in 87 and nearly **** my pants. The damn thing lit the tires up from a roll of 30 mph.
I would keep it stock except for the easy basic mods.

Its a turbo car not a supercharged one...to the op...get the GN price can only go up on them and that ones is in super shape. Once you drive one youll love it...and if need be you could always pick up another f-body for cheap.

Man, that is a amazing car.
Dude thats a car u don't go all out with! U keep that baby the way she is.

That gn is nice as hell! I always wanted a gn myself but don't know if i would want to own something that clean. I would not want to drive it.

Good luck with whichever one you choice but no matter what you still have a badass car!

Personal choices, I had an offer for my 99SS for a straight across trade on a freshly painted GN. FAST CAR !! But I just like the looks of the catfish better so I declined. The GN was probably faster as well but it's a matter of personal taste. I like Camaro's.

The question is what is faster with both having all the bolt on mods?... I think the GN wins hands down on the SS... Worth more as years pass too..

GN all day long if it's clean and runs solid... Keep in mind the car is 1986 model and is old, **** could break down if it hasn't been taken care of properly.....

Go check it out...

2000 Chevrolet Camaro SS LS1 346 V8 325 13.5 107.3

I think its an intersting debate. We know how well the ls1 responds to mods.

Go for the GN, I know I am a bit partial to them but all around you won't go wrong. One big thing is the value the GN's are going up and fbodys are going down. Good luck!

Get it while you can still afford it....

Fast and the Furious 4 is coming out and the star car (or what looks to be the star car from the trailer) is a GN... Remember what happened with the Supra market circa 2000 when F&TF came out? Every little rice boy and wanna be went out and bought them up, kitted them, wrecked them, now they're double the price they were 7 years ago and more for a unmolested example...

I'd start buying them up if I had investing money...

What the hell are you talking about? The GN's interior actually ties into the rest of the car. I like everything about the GN 10 times over, than a camaro or trans am. O well to each his own

To the OP, i would say if your going to use a Turbo Regal for a DD, i hope youve got some money, because it will nickel and dime the **** out of you. i know from experience. And its all little stuff. but when one little thing goes wrong with these cars the car will run like ****. And then when something does break, you cant just have some regular mechanic work on them, because these cars are alot different than anything else out there, im sure Mean87SS and anybody else that owns one will atest to that fact. good luck, and dont think im trying to talk you out of it just remember that these cars ar over 22 years old, it wold be nice to have another TR guy on the forum though.....

I have a regal and I love the G-body setup. F-body is a badass car aswell but common and will probably never be as rare as a nice GN. GNX as noted before would be a nice find, but even a low mile GN or T-type that hasn't been modded is a great find. I would take the Grand National over the T.A anyday. You will be able to find another nice F-body in the future but these Buicks are becoming more and more scarce.
