I have a friend who found a used 98 trans am and we are going to check it out later on today. I was wondering how I should shop for F body vehicles.
I own a corvette and some things to look out on for on vettes are oil burning problems on pre 01's ect. Anything I need to look out for in F bodies?

Shopping for F-body is really not that much different than shopping for any other vehicle. Just ask a lot of questions, take it for a long test drive, check for any unusual sights, smells etc. and you're good to go.

I would make sure it has the emission stuff on it, ALOT of people take the air pump off and the tubes for no reason and remove the EGR (dont add any power) and can cause problems with gettin it inspected in the future... ( I had this happen to me)

Check for grinding when downshifting...I had 3rd/4th gear synco issues that I thought were a minor problem...when we pulled the trans I had to replace the syncros, 1-4 gears, the input shaft, and it wasn't fun. Not something I planned on doing after spending 11 grand on a car...
