Default new battery recommendation

Over 4 years ago i bought an Optima red top. It has been great. It is getting old now. I don't know if it will make it through the winter. i am running a 500 watt rms amp to a 10". I was hoping to get some recommendations on a new battery. I'm reading that Optima might not be the best way to go. They seem to be hit or miss.
Any insight will be appreciated.

Yellow top Optima battery for the win. It is more of a deep cycle battery and works very well with sound systems.

Optima Yellow Top sounds like the good choice. I have the Red Top in my car, and it's been pretty kick ***. Although I have no beat to push in my ride, but from what I've read the Yellow Top will work good with your music.

I called Optima and they suggested the Yellow top. So I put yellow tops in all of my cars / trucks. Haven't had any problems, they were right in suggesting them.

Good luck with your decision.

i wonder if the yellow top will stop my lights from dimming a bit to the beat
I've never heard of Powermaster. I'll read up on them. Thank you.
I imagine I can get a better deal on the net for a new Yellow Top battery. Anyone know a good place? If they are not a sponsor, you prolly have to PM me :/
Thanks for the commments.

A battery is a battery is a battery. You just want to make sure you have enough CCA and CA to run the car (if you have a system you will need more then the standard which is 550 I believe) Optima is the only one that is different b/c it has a gel acid oposed to a water based acid. Aside from that ALL batteries are the same, and they are only made at like 2-3 places in the U.S. and just get different labels, so pretty much besides the amps just worry about warrently and price

Never had a problem with any Optima including mine. My buddy has run his dead a few times and it comes right back to life. Just don't buy an Exide battery, it seems like I warranty a lot of them out at work.

Don't give in to this crap Optima hype. Save your money. Duralast Gold > optima and is cheaper.

I'm going to try Oddessey <sp> batteries for my next car. I hear great things about them, and they are small, but pack a punch.

Not sure if anyone on here has heard about them or used them?

The most important thing about car batteries is keeping them fully charged (what ever it takes,ie trickle charger at home daily).

You can get the optima just about at any auto parts stores. If someone is going to ship them I would have to belive that it will be pretty penny to ship. Also I don't belive that the yellow top will stop your ligths from dimming. I have a 1000watt amp and the lights still dim. Sorry on that part. They are good batteries, gel filled un likely to spill, mount them up side down and they still work. Drop them beat them they still work.

in my last vehicle i build i used 6 of the D3100's on a 6k rms system.
