Default What would you do headers/y or torque convertor

Like the title says, I will be doing either or first. I have all the supporting suspension mods(see sig) and now its time to make it a little quicker.

Edit: dont mind the spelling. I hit submit and noticed it. lol.

The converter will give you more performance but it will be tougher to hook depending which one you get. It will sacrifice more in the daily driver part with a loose stall.

The headers still should give good gains and will make your car sounds better/louder.

Both will probably run you the same amount of money if you buy quality parts. I would do headers before a converter unless you want to keep the car quiet.

well its not a daily. but i can take it out whenever i feel like it. dont really care about gas mileage because its a v8 i didnt buy it for mileage. and yeah thats why i considered both because they will end up being about the same. because i will be doing both installs myself, i have a lift and i have a welder, and we can weld decent. so install costs dont exist.

I voted for the LT's/Y because of the added power and sound you will get, unlike a TC.

headers and y hands down, you get the power and the car will sound so much better still makes me smile to start it up with the cutout open...i cant wait to get duals!

I did headers first and want to get a stall eventually. You would see more of a gain at the track with a good stall with a tire on the car. But like you said above, if the sound is playing into your decision at all go LT's first.

If i were u honestly, i would go ahead with the headers and y pipe. Then i would save up to get a built tranny and get the stall done at the same time. Makes no sense to get either then do the stall then your tranny gives.. Just wait till u have enough to get a built tranny and do the stall the same time.

When I got mine, the exhaust was stock with the muffler hacked off. Honestly, it sounded pretty damn good for something that didn't cost a thing. I installed Pacesetter longs, an off-road Y, and 18" Sweet Thunder resonator. It got a little louder, but not enough. Now I'm adding gears this month and a Yank 3600 or 3800 within the next few.

If I could go back, I think I would've stalled her first. I'd have made the same or better gains, but without actually increasing the power. It already sounded good, so it would have been a cool way to run quick and perplex people when they see I'm rocking stock manifolds and y-straw. Plus it'd get rid of all those dead spots when folks try and play from a roll. Even after headers, it's still a slug from 40-50.

For what it's worth, when I first got the car I ran a 13.4 @ 104 with a 2.0 60ft. My best time with the exhaust has been a 12.9 @ 106 with a 1.9 60. The weather was much better with the latter of the two, but she's got more in her with a tune. The car runs so pig rich you'll smell like straight exhaust after sitting still a minute or two.

I vote you stall it.

Stall hands down. My car was a pig even with full bolt ons. The car picked up .7 seconds at the track with the converter. Its a night and day difference.

If you are looking for sound go headers. If you want to see the car come out of the whole like a rocket go get you a stall. 3000 stall would be awsome. Like said above picked up .7 seconds, you won't do that with headers. Or atleast I don't see that happening. If you are sneaky about racing people will see the headers, they won't see a stall.

Either a stall or nitrous, the only reason I have headers and no stall is becuase the headers were ont the car when I bought it

I picked up almost a half sec with my hearders and the sound is awsome. But I have my tc waiting to be installed I hope I see about the same if not more in my 1/4 times with the stall. So this really doesnt help you but I think the engine needs to breathe better to perform at its highest level.

yeah i deff dont have dr, and i dont traction for **** as is now lol. i really dont care to spend ~600 on tires, so im going to go with the headers/y. another reason is this car will never see track time, its a corner carver.
