Hows the ride in an F-Body with lowering springs and otherwise stock suspension?
Like the title says, I am considering buying some lowering springs for my 01 WS6 and want to know some personal experiences from people who had lowering springs on their F-Bod. From what I have heard is that the ride is ROUGH, and HARD. I recently rode in an dumdumdumdumdum Neon with Eibach springs and the ride was HARD, every little bump in the road was hard and honestly inside the car it felt like something was going to break. On the other hand my friends 96 Mustang GT has Eibach springs and his ride is pretty good.
I know BMR is having a pretty good sale on springs right now and I want some, but im worried about my ride quality, honestly is it as bad as people make it out to be? My suspension is stock other then SFC's. The car is no longer my DD, but will still be used almost every nice day and for a few road trips this spring/summer. Thanks!

Springs make a difference but not near as bad as shocks. If you pair bad shocks with good springs itll be rough regardless.
Your buddy with the Neon might have worn out shocks/struts and thatll give you a rough **** right no matter what you springs you have.

the shocks are going to make more of a difference in the ride than the springs. I have the Eibach pro-kit on my ss with bilstein (spelling?) shocks and the ride isn't that bad. Small bumps are no big deal, but bumps, railroad tracks, potholes etc. it feels like the car is going to break in half.

Yea, my Eclipse was lowered by the previous owner and the guy absolutely butchered the suspension. Its kinda soured me on lowering as a whole. I'm still spending money to fix things that are broke or are breaking because of that stupid crap. Once I got it halfway decent, the ride wasn't bad, but I still don't think I'll lower the TA.

Well if you plan on lowering the car on the stock shocks you may run into the same problem I did. The shock runs out of travel or compression. So in a sense the shock hits rock bottom and it gets rough. It really sucks, later down the road in the shock went threw so much abuse it fianlly started leaking out the top around the piston. If you are going to lower the car I would save up the money and get some shocks too. Install once algin once and be done.

I lowered mine on the lowest of the low, sportlines, with stock shocks for about a week until my new shocks came in. It was a nightmare. It felt like a cross between a drunken elephant and a 1988 buick century. It handled bad. It rode like ****. Even with revalved bilstiens it wasn't great, put stock springs back on and its good to go again. A less dramatic drop might not be bad at all, but thats my experience.

im in the same boat. i am looking into getting some lowering springs. leaning towards BMR or hotchkis. eventually i will get some shocks but i really cant afford to spend the money on springs/shocks. its just an appearance for me anyways as i need to get rid of the 4x4 look.

A good set of dampers are a must with any springs even the stock ones.
The Decarbons aren't capable of properly dampening the stock spring rates let alone a stiffer spring with less height to work with.
Koni's are the best mod you can do because you will feel it 100% of the time.
With that said I went with Strano Springs and Koni 4/4's.
It totally transformed the cars ride and handling and I'm not the only one that will tell you this. Go to the Suspension forum and do your research then talk to Sam Strano before you make a purchase.

Eibach makes a really good Mustang spring but (sorry you f-body Eibach guys) but for our cars they F'ed it up and IMO they are among the worst. Go on suspension forum and search.
And also ANY lowerering spring needs shocks that complement a lowering spring or they will ride like crap and wear out fast so there is really not many options. Actually the shocks are more important than the springs so if it came down to it go shocks first for SURE!!!!. The Strano set-up in my sig is the best combo of street/performance that I have driven (no less than 5 others) but I hate to say that cause everbody on here here nutswings on their own set-up.
It is not cheap to do it right but I got chose this combo after driving several others.
Konis first and work from there.....Sways make a huge handling diff too if you are looking that over just the lowered look....
