so the diff breaks, oh I didnt know that particular part broke,good info

Thats alot cheaper than replacing the entire housing

my 10 bolt lasted for about 110K miles before a 1-2 shift took it out. the diff cracked in half and 4 bolt heads busted off. luckily I was able to limp it home!!!
it'll probably crap out on you... hopefully it doesn't, though...

12 flat w/a 1.77 60'ft on a 10 bolt for quite a while now.
Guess it's just a matter of time......

Default 10 Bolt Life

I was pretty lucky with my 10 bolt. Running an A4 with about 360 RWHP I finally broke 3 teeth off the ring gear on a 12 flat pass with about a 1.70 60' on M/T ET Streets. Got over 300 passes out of the 10 bolt. The Zexel Torsen diff is nothing to write home about either. I would not invest a dime in a 10 bolt when it lets go. Used a Spohn Torque Arm and aftermarket control arms to defeat wheel hop.

With a new heads/cam package making 417 RWHP, I bought a Moser 12 Bolt with a Detroit True Trac diff and 3.73's and have never looked back. Over 800 runs since then.

I have 491hp and 3.90 in mine and I am a 6spd and I am still rolling. I am easy on they 60ft though 1.8 60ft at 11.70 in the quarter last summer. All I have are moser axles and a girdle cover.
