Default stock 10 bolt weakness Q

Will the stock 10 bolt handle 400rwhp and roll races? I know it will bust with hard launching, but what about roll races? I know it will inevitably endure a 9" upgrade, but I would like to roll around with the 10 bolt for a while

The 10 bolt is a hit or miss thing. With that in mind, its only a matter of time before it fails. Would you have a better chance with the 10 bolt lasting from roll races? Probably. What it boils down to, the 10 bolt is a ticking timebomb.

m6 10 bolts gernerally die sooner than a4, but there are alot of factors that go into it, what suspension, what tires and what kind of luck you have.

ive seen a FEW ten bolts in the deep elevens, not very much, then ive seen them croak before people break 12's. so its a wierd thing

People on here are bias against the 10bolt lol. True it isnt a super strong rear but it comes down to this. If your on street tires, you shouldn't worry much about it, if doing clutch dumps often, that would probably hurt the clutch more then the rear if its still on street tires once again. Now on the other hand if your trying to get traction by having drag radials or slicks.. then your on borrowed time, thats the type of bullets that hurt the 10bolt.

Put it this way, if your spinning alot then that means the 10bolt is going to last longer. If your hooking alot, then that means the 10bolt IS NOT going to last long. Best way to put it.

oh no, I will make that 10 bolt work as long as I can. I never go to the track. I have had this car(sig) for 2 1/2 years with the exact same power for the last 2 years and never taken it to the track. I dont like 1/8th mile and the closest 1/4 I know of is Baytown. So this will see soft tires for quite a while

the weak link to the 10-bolt is the small ring and pinion...it pretty much begins to eat itself under power.
roll racing is not as bad on these parts like drag racing but it will eventually take its toll.

If you dont go to the track often and your not looking to make a race car out of it then I wouldn't worry about it. Alot of people on here will overreact and tell you how horrible it is and what not.. but most of those people are also going to the track and have slicks on there car regularly. If theres usually street tires on the car then it should last for a decently long time, im not being specific because I don't want something to all a sudden happen to my rear *knock on wood* now that I said that lol

The 7.5 is pretty small. The Ford 8.8 can be made pretty strong for cheap. Anyone ever heard of any swapping in one of these? You can pull one of these out of a Ford Exploder with a trac lock, 31 splined axles, and 4.10s for next to nothing

it all depends on how you treat it. i know several people, me included that
have gone deep into the 11's with 10bolts. AVOID wheel hop, thats a must. and cheap insurance add studs, to the mains, and use girdle cover.
theres a 3rd gen running1.4 60s and 6.3s at 105-110 in the 1/8 with a stock 2.73 10bolt with these 2 mods. it can be done. AVOID AVOID AVOID wheel hop
