Default Is this true? B4C insurance question

I want a V8 car so bad it's not even funny. Since I have crappy insurance, I can't get insurance on any V8 car.

But I remember my sisters husband saying that he had a B4C camaro, and that the only way he got it on insurance is because it didn't come up as a V8 or something like that.

Can someone help me out?

No consequences really. Go for it.

But, just hypothetically you get into an accident that's your fault. You break the other driver's leg. Good luck paying his medical bills out of your pocket. They will probably end up suing your family, making them sell their house to pay the bills.

Anyways, I say go for it, take the risk.

Lol sure!

Anyways, I just did a little research, and some said that you may get around it since it doesn't have the "dreaded Z28" code that insurance companys look for in the VIN number.

Just need someone that has a B4C to back me up.

If the 8th letter in the VIN is a G, it has an LS1. Unless its some shithole insurance company, their going to know the engine.

Even if it isn't your fault. I know two different people that got into a wreck. Both were hit/not at fault (one was rear ended, the other was hit by a car that ran a red). They were both screwed. on top of the lawsuits, you lose your license and get fined heavily.

If you can't afford the added cost of insuring a V8 car, you shouldnt be driving it. If it is due to age, get a 3.8. They can still be modded. you can put a supercharger on it and be near Z28 levels (and not paying the heftier V8 fees).

it sounds like his insurance company wasn't able to classify the car properly. i'm sure not all insurance companies have the same problem.

as far as consequences - they vary by state. some states are pretty strict about it and will try to get you off the road immediately.

It's not that I can't afford the cost of a V8, it is that I can't get a V8 period.. Like if I bought an 87 V8 Cadillac or something, I couldn't get it insured by what my mom says. Which is bullshit.

I mean, what if all you had was a V8 Caddy? Then what? You can't drive your car ever? I can see not insuring a kid on a Viper or something, but this is just stupid.

Also, is $130 a month for a 16 year old with a V6 Camaro fair? That's $1560 a year, I didn't even pay that much for my car.

I haven't been pulled over yet, not wrecks, perfectly clean record and I have been driving since the day I turned 15. I could see if I had a bunch of speeding tickets I would be a hazzard with a V8, but I don't.

Also what I pay now for insurance seems high.

The insurance for my v6 is the exact same as my firehawk full coverage and I am 19. Get a quote, don't let your mom tell you its more expensive until you got the facts.

if you got a clean record that seems a little high. i would try different companies. and it sound like your moms the one that doesnt want you to have it. ive never heard that about the v8 not being able to be insured. i think its bs. be patient and NO TICKETS OR WRECKS! if you ever get the car. i was in your shoes at that age, now im 20 with a r6, z-28 and s-10 in my name and only pay 150 a month with full coverage on the bike.

State Farm and AllState will rail you without lube. How do you think they have the money to pay for all their lovely commercials? You'll have far better luck looking at progressive or another company that says that they show their competitors rates. I had State Farm for a month before I kicked them to the curb. I paid more to insure a 1984 Buick Riviera with just liability than I paid for liability + comp on my '96 formula.

Yo I'm 22...I have full coverage on the hawk at 83 a month and liability at 42 a month on my minivan through state farm. I have one moving violation.

Mine says z28. No way around that. Possibly happened in the third gens but no way on a 4th.

Drive without insurance in Georgia and you could go to jail.

Honestly hate to say it but if you can't afford the insurance on the v8 the v6 is still fairly steep. It's still classified as a sports car man.

Get you a beater and DD that.
