first time to the track
Well I went to the track for the first time ever and ran the trans am. I was a little disappointed but my times were expected for being mostly stock. My best run was a 13.7 at 105. My best 60 foot was a 2.1 and a .09 reaction time. I got three runs in with similar results. Im on 245 street tires and launched at about 1200 rpms with no burnout. There was a lot of super nice cars there and really nice people there. Im def. hooked now I just need to mod up for the next time.

Right I didn't think it did... I just tried really hard that time because I wanted to beat the nova I lined up against which I did, he fell asleep at the line.

that is a pretty decent reaction time, especially if it was your first time down the strip. most people tend to wait about half a second after green to go when its their first time.

I dont know the status of your car. But when i got my 98 auto ss i took it to the track the day i picked it up for some baseline runs. It ran a SHAMEFULE 13.8 at 102. The next day did all the maintnence all the fluids and filters and went back and was 13.5 at 104 all night. Next week did the free mods and got a 13.327 at 106. Then headers and 12s. So i would start with the maintnence and then the free mods.

Ya the maintanence is up to par for the most part, I seafoamed it about a month ago. But I do need to do plugs that is for sure. I was consistently 13.7 and it was gettin a little annoying, but that will change with practice.

I think you did great for been stock. Last time I ran my car I was running 13.7 all nigth and I do have some upgrades. I got a M6 with full exhaust, tune, lid and a aftermarket flow sensor. But honestly I think is the driver not the car

Try launching at 2000RPM aiming for minimal wheelspit off the line. I would also consider lowering the rear tire pressure a little, something like 26PSI in the back and max in the front.
The poor 60ft time may also be a function of crappy tire compound.

Ok thanks guys... I just picked up a wet kit also, so that should help a little also lol. But now im looking for some better tires like Nittos or something similar. Next time im just gonna push it a little harder. I know it has more in it I just need to see what its limit is. But that will come with more experience.

These cars launch better when u flash the converter. I launch my car at maybe around 900 to 1000. I run 24 pounds in my tires with a decent burnout and i manage to break into the 1.9's on street tires. Your not really going to be getting anything better then a 1.9 on street tire. I have seen maybe one or two guys get like a 1.89 on street tires but not many. you can do alittle better on a radial but not much more on stock stall. A stall and gears will ge 60's down
