What kind of milage are you a4 ls1 guys getting?
#64
I don't see why people think it is so unbeievable to get 30mpg on the highway. My 98 Z with 2.73 gears, lid, free mods, and catback would get between 28-31mpg on "all highway" tanks. Thats if I kept it at around 74mph I think, somewhere close to that mph. It had a sweet spot that it liked.

By the way, I am fairly knowledgeable and tune my own cars.
You may want to rethink this deal or I'll be rocking 3 F-bodys But don't worry, I'm a T/A guy and I'll sell it back to you on the cheap.

To the OP, it looks like you're getting good mileage considering your mods. I drive conservatively most of the time, no racing, and I set the cruise at 67-70 on the highway. I mostly drive the car to and from work (64 miles) which is 20 miles highway, and 12 miles rural two lanes with a speed limit of 35 (traffic flows at 40-45 in the morning) and about 8 traffic lights over the 12 mile stretch. Very little "city" driving in that mix. I consistantly get 23.0-24.0 mpg under those conditions. This is a 2.73 A4 car with a lid and FTRA for mods.
Oh, and my last tank I got 23.5mpg, and my low fuel light came on at 310miles.
Best mileage I've ever gotten was 25.2, that was with a 300 mile highway trip with a trip to work the next day.
I gotta say, I'm pretty skeptical of A4's getting 30mpg too, although under the right conditions, I think it's possible.
Something people don't take into account is the KIND of driving. Driving across a flat state like Florida or Kansas or somewhere like that is alot different that driving through the mountains or even just a state with alot of hills. Of course you'll get better mileage on flat land.Yeah, you can coast downhill, but I think you use more gas getting UP the hill than you save coasting down it.
Oh, and for Dano, here's some figures from yesterday's fillup:
324 miles travelled, 13.78 gallons to fill up = 23.51 mpg.

Currently Getting 28mpg in my WS6 w/3.23 gears doing 60mph all highway.
I Can See an A4 getting 30mpg with 2.73's and CAI/Full Exhaust.
I kick myself whenever I'm on the highway for not getting a 6-Speed.
75mph keeps saying "Come On You Can Do It", but 2500rpm's says "Spin Me If You Think You've Got The Rocks"

When I drive the Hawk it gets around 22MPG. I lent it to my GF for a week while her truck was in the shop and she got 29.5MPG (all highway driving)! Guess I like the go pedal a bit more than her...

I just filled up again. . . I am getting about 28Mpg +. . . . Real smooth highway @ about 65-80. . . . With only about 5% stop and go.
Catless Y, MagnaFlow CB, 2.73's, SLP Flo-Pak, MSD Wires, Fresh AC Delco plugs, on SS 17's with 245 45's.
I rarely can get 30 Mpg, if I really take it easy.

I just filled up a few days ago and just push 16mpg. None of it was highway driving and consists of less then 10 miles and not pulling out gently. I'm sure it probaley would get mid 20s if it was driven on the highway since my z24 gets only 21mpg but can pull around 33mpg on the highway. I wonder how bad my mpg would be if I had 3.42s on my 10 mile trips.

i believe it is completely possible for an a4 to get 30+ mpg. my b4c camaro has a very nice sweet spot, gotta make sure u accelerate a little fast before you get to your high speed. letting cruse sit right at 78mph for a 274 mile trip i made right at 28.36 mpg so i think it is plausable. my ss however only gets around 24 if im lucky on the highway...

nothing anybody can possibly say to you will change your mind, so why ******* bother? Anybody should be able to divide miles/gallon. Just because you dont believe it, doesnt make everybody who gets better gas milage than you bad at math or lying. Some people keep track of every mile driven, every drop of gas that goes in, what gas station it came from, what time of the day, etc. All highway driving=higher milage. It shouldnt be that difficult for you to comprehend. I average 20ish with mixed driving, around 16 all city driving, and 22-38 all highway, AVERAGE. I HAVE gotten 31 mpg on a road trip, cruise control set the whole way. That's not sayign that I get 30mpg everywhere I go, but it DOES happen.

I drove my 00 z28 from Hammond IN, to center Terre Haute IN is 160 miles
When I got to town, it had EXACTLY 1/2 tank again
Figure the math... roughly around 27-31 mph driving easy at 60-70 mph hyway (thats 90/10 hyway/city)
This is with 3.42's, lt headers, Ms3 cam, ls6 intake, ud pully, alu drive-shaft, A4 with 3600 stall (it locks up though) ported ls6 heads, fast toys ram air, 3 in ory, magnaflow..376 rwhp with y pipe, 411 rwhp with true duals.
around 30 mpg...
Yes it's passable guys..
. keep in mind I have a big cam 237 @ 050 intake 603 lift intake... the duration can actually increase gas millage, if you do not have high gears (2.76;s) as intake opens more deg before tdc.. pushing fuel back into intake..
Driving manors have a huge impact, also tunning.
I drove it steady at 55-70. gunned it too 90-100 maybe 2 times goofing around.
I have heard of many corvvette owners getting over 30 mpg also..
my daily driver, a fadded 89 Fifth Avg.. with 2.20 gears (yes they have 2.20 gears), lock up converter, 3 spd auto, 120 hp 318.. if I drive it easy on hyway, I can muster 21-22 mpg.. 65 mph, (most people do not get any better on these cars) pisses me off, my high 11 sec z28 weekend toy kills it in mpg
