Me too......Great stuff.....

Aithough I was in KY this weekend and went to AZ and they only had a 0w-30 that wasn't made in Germany like I was used too.

Still said it was approved by Mercedes, BMW etc though...... so makes me wonder if they are phasing the GC out over here

Wow this thread really took off! Sounds like theres a lot of mixed opinions out there. but yea the main reason i wanted to run the thicker oil was to shut the lifters up cuz i hate that annoying little tick everytime its ideling.

I run 5w-30 royal purple. Ticks like crazy, idle and cruising (can't hear it at WOT, but I'm sure it's there)

232/240 .598/.608 110 cam though, so I'm sure that doesn't help lol.

I can't stand that ticking noise either, not only does it annoy me, it makes m e paranoid. I'll do a WOT run, come back home and then leave again and hear it, thinking I screwed up my engine. I use 5w-30 in the winter and 10w-30 in the summer.

THANK YOU!!! Why don't people realize this. GC has been prove to actually be thicker at operating temperatures then other synthetics that are 5w-30. both all are 30 weights whether its 0w-30, 5w-30, or 10w-30.

A lot of people believe that the first number has something to do with the weight. But a 0w-30 is the same weight at operating temp as a 10w-30. If I remember right, the first number has something to do with how thick it is at start-up.

From what my shop teacher told me, there are more additives in a 0w-30 than a 10w-30 because it takes more to change the viscosity between cold and running temp.
