G8 GXP or even a GT is a smashing car. Especially if you have to be a businessman sometimes. It takes $10K or more to get a comparable care from Europe. What 366 hp for the GT which some American Racing headers and a tune could bump +30, 415hp for the GXP. Nice fit and finish, a ball to drive, what is not to like. I've got a 02 Tran Am and I will die with it, but I have another car for business and trips to the airport, etc. If you could only have one car...

I own a 09 GXP with a manual and I think it's faster than the 05 GTO I had. I have not had it to a drag strip or anything but this thing is damn fast.
Also, it does have On Star and Blue Tooth. With On star you can get turn by turn. I personally don't see the big deal on navigation. Why in the world you pay 2k for that option when you can go spend $200-$400 for a hand held you can plug into your car? I don't get it, but to each his own.
With the GXP you get more than a 6 spd. With the manual you get 3.70 gears a regular G8 only gets you 2.92's I believe. A GXP Auto gets you 3.27's. Also a GXP gets you 55 more hp and 30 more Tq. Not and insignficant number.
If you shop around and check out the GM deal you can get a deal on a GXP. I received 7500 off of mine. Also they only made 1829 of these things so...
It is very easy to get these things into the 12's with just a tune and a CAI.
All of that and it seats 5 and handles like a dream. Not to mention the ride is very nice for something that is a basic muscle car.
Now it isn't perfect as mentioned with the seats etc. I do think it is well worth the money.

I drove a G8 GT around for a bit back when they first came out when I still worked at the Cadillac dealership. I was very surprised at how fast it was and the shifts were smooth as butter. Didn't get much of a chance to test out the handling but from the time I drove it seemed well planted and firm but rode very well. Interior looked great...best part about it IMO. Materials were high quality. If I were in the market for a new 4 door that would definitely be my choice.

No i actually just bought the car this last november. So that's the reason for wanting to trade it in. I would keep it if i could afford 2 cars but i cant and coud really use a newer/lower mileage car. The extra room in a G8 is a plus, but im also considering possibly a new 2010 ss camaro. Im still up in the air at the moment about these 2 cars.

i love mine to death and for the 36k (did all the work myself) i have invested in it, its quite a bit faster than a GXP. just dont have the stopping ability. however make me an offer and it could be yours... i need to buy a house and take advantage of the first time home buyer credit

Navigation is a waste of dash space. I can get around my own neighborhood.
I need navigation to come with me - like when I am out of town without my car or traveling widely. That's why I like navigation on my BlackBerry.
No good having navigation in your car at home when I am driving a rental car.

Im really thinking of getting one of these. I thought about maybe a GTO as well but seems like those had there fair share of problems, they dont look as good as the G8's do either and i really dont hear much problems with the G8's. New Camaro's seem to be highly priced, well atleast that's what im seeing when looking through autotrader.com. That pushes me away from the new SS's a bit. G8's looking like it may be my choice. Heavier but from what im seeing. Responds nicely to mods/tune and get into the 12's fairly easy with few mods and mid to low 12's cammed.
