Seriously look on here and autotrader. I bought my Formula and it was 500 miles away. Paid someone to deliver it to me and it was totally worth it. Screw settling for a car, especially a sports car.
Very valid point.

My 2001 was the first car I looked at. It worked amazingly, no problems ever.

Post in the wanted section. You will get some hits on cars.

https://ls1tech.com/forums/vehicles-...ed-1999-t.html

https://ls1tech.com/forums/vehicles-...-am-cheap.html

Both are pretty close to you if I mapped them out right.

From Calvert, which is even more of a bumfuck county if you ask me. Anyhow, I picked up my first LS1 about a month ago from craigslist of all places. I thought I got a pretty decent deal, it was out in Fairfax though, but only like an hour drive...

Yeah, I should make a post there. And they are both semi close, but I'm slightly biased to Camaros.

Ok just to give you some advice cuz i was kind of in the same boat.... I was 19 when i first bought my ls1, i was working 2 part time jobs and attending county college, i saved up every week to get the car i wanted, it took about a year, but it was worth it (also i sold my truck to help with the purchase of my camaro) . You just gotta be patient. Every day i was looking on autotrader, craigslist, ebay, until i found the right car. I drove 6 hours to get the car, and i couldn't be happier. Just save your money and buy when the time is right

Yeah, I know.

I just need to decide between another LS1 and a Colorado now.

Of course I'd pull a quick LS swap on the Colly.

Yeah, but a pathetic 5.3, lol.

And 28k MSRP

I was thinking about picking up a 6.0 and rebuilding it, and using that. I've been checking into swaps, and they aren't a big task (well, as far as engine swaps go).

I flew to Atlanta from Memphis to pick mine up. Asked the right questions, got better pictures, took the gamble and did it. Don't regret it one bit. If you're worried about not being able to personally inspect it, I'm sure someone from here would be more than happy to go check it out for you.

Don't settle. If you're going to do that, get a cheap *** beater and drive it until you find what you're looking for. Cherokees go for less than a grand all day.

Cant go wrong with that 4.0L jeep, it know to out last the owner lol. Just wait man, you will know it when you find your car. Be patient !!! I bought my 97 lt1 ruby red 130k miles, mint condition for 3200 buck cash from dealer from tampa FL. I saw it on saturday after a year searching on auto trader, and I saw it , call the dealer, deposit 300 buck, bought the ticket, and CALL IN SICK THE NEXT DAY LOL !!!!!!!!!!!!. Flew to tampa FL, drove back the say day, get home the next morning, and go to work ( but sleep at work lol ). Like I say , you will find the car you want, first time you saw it, you will get it.

Yea I agree with merv! The 5.3 is a stout motor with some tuning. my silverado pulled a 05' gtp from a dig awile back. The only mods are cai, 3.73(factory), base tune! I agree 100,000mi stock lt1 for 8k is excessive. Keep lookin for a ls1, I found mine two weeks ago in the lsx f/s section. Good luck!

yeah the 5.3 aint bad. my dad had it in his old sierra before he got an 08 diesel. it was pretty beastly for 8" of lift and 37's lol

i could imagine the 5.3 is even better in a light pickup like the colorado. imagine if they offered it in a single cab :O

LT1s arnt a big mistake. They arnt LS1's but they dominated when they were being made and are still great motors, just more quirks. Quit believing everything you read online. You are 16 and have a mid 13's car. That is enough power.

But to the OP., dont go backwards. Wait for an LS1. LT1's are great and I love them but if you have had an ls1, you dont want an lt1.
