Default Did I hydrolock it?

well i was driving home and its been raining non-stop since last night and i hit a puddle going about 15mph, it couldnt have been more than 3 inches deep. the car ran fine until i got home until it started running rough....real rough. so i cut it off and now im waiting. should i let it run and let it burn out or let it sit? Any ideas? Thanks guys. Im hoping this isnt going to lead to a new motor...

sounds like the 02's just got wet or cold or something, i doubt that would hydro lock it. I thought hydro locking caused instant catostrophic failure.

pull the plugs and turn the engine over by hand. spray some wd-40 inside the cylinders to displace any water, let it sit, then blow out the cylinders with compressed air.

describe rough. is the idle choppy? do you head any extra valvetrain noise, any ticking?

DO NOT spray WD into the cylinders it will wash down the cylinder wall and could lead to gouging of the wall. The motor is still running no reason to go spraying anything into it. If you wanted to pull the plugs and roll if over a few times if you were that concerned but from the sounds of it its not hydrolocked.

As was already stated, hydrolocking causes instant engine failure. That's not your problem.

it almost sounded like a small quiet knock, or maybe a tapping. the motor has never given me any problems what so ever. it happened right after i drove in the rain...and i have a fast toys ram air...but i really dont see water spraying in there.

I doubt your car is hydrolocked. Something got wet as stated above.

Also... Hydrolocking does not mean instant engine failure. It is possible but not always. A friend of mine sunk his jeep and hydrolocked it. We pulled the plugs and turned over the motor until we got most of the water out. Put the plugs in and drove it to the garage, where we proceeded to change all fluids. Jeep still runs great to this day.
