I'm thinking about getting a 3k-3600 stall or a 224/224 cam but I don't want to have it dyno tuned until I get both installed. Which one would be better to run on the stock tune? I'm leaning toward the stall/tranny cooler first and then the cam early next year. Any input is welcome.

im getting a performabuilt 3600 installed right now and from what ive heard its really tight and feels stock until you give it some gas same with the yank ss converters. Go with the stall first

I run a Vigalante 32-3400. It is excellent around town. I sent it back once after I fried the stock 4L60E for a free cleanout and restall and I had them to set the stall speed back to the same specs. You don't really know its in there till you nail the throttle. I would do gears before I did cam. a set of 3.73s will really make a difference over the 2.73 stock gears.

Will a stock replacement fuel pump be good for the cam I'm looking at with full exhaust or should I just step up to a Walbro 255? My pump is holding 55-60 psi running but drops to nothing within a few secs. Is this normal or is my pump going out? I was told it was supposed to hold pressure for around 15 mins but don't know if the guy knew what he was talking about.

No it drops as soon as I turn the key off.....drops from ~60 to ~2 psi within 10 secs. Mine's a 98 which if I'm not mistaken has bigger injectors so would they be ok?

I've also got a 98 and the 98s fuel returns to the gas tank. So I would say thats normal. I'm also running the 98 stock 28.5 FIs and I'm not stock.

If you can't afford the tune right away, you'll be straight. I've driven mine months now untuned, but there are problems with it occaisionally hitting the rev limiter and not wanting to lock up. If you want the most out of a stall, you'll probably need a tune.
That said, stall that bitch. I bought an old Yank 3500 for $200 off of this website and it's been great for almost 10k miles. This one in particular is pretty loose, but it is an older model. I assume you're running stock gears? 2.73 or 3.23s will give it more of a loose feeling then 3.73s, which are what I got. With the hills around here, I can't imagine this thing with highway gears.
Stall it.. Get as much out of your car as you can BEFORE adding power. That's why people do gears, stalls and bolt-ons first. A higher torque converter completely changes the experience. I'd suggest a Yank SS3600 or atleast a 3500.
